Why aren't Touchdowns worth 4pts?

a Foreign buddy of mine asked me this. if so then all FG's could be worth 3, and going for 2 could be going for 4..double td.

It wouldn't be a huge change, and scoring would be more uniform, and apparently easier to understand/explain to foreigners.

I can't see where this would actually change scores, except if a missed exPoint/conversion. Any other issues?

If people can remember that rugby union has a 5 point try with a chance for 2 more and that rugby league has a 4 point try with a chance for 2 more, then they can deal with American Football.

Explain it to him like this:

"frick YOU COMMIE FOREIGNER a-hole GAY"

Hard to not be able to comprehend that.

You'd give the same amount of points for driving down the field for a TD as you would scoring on 1 play from the 2 TD line? Yeah, that makes much more sense.

Is American football really that hard to understand?

I really don't see the point. It takes maybe 20 seconds to explain the scoring rules for football.

There's your problem right there.

Ask him why all their crap is 1 point, and why nil nil is fine.

I'm at a total loss how explaining 4 points would be easier than explaining 6.

Come to think of it, what's the point of getting to attempt extra points after touchdowns anyway? What other sport do you get rewarded with an opportunity to score bonus points after scoring a goal?

FG's within 30 yards should be one point. 30-45 should be two, and over 45 should be three. I think you should lose a god damned point for punting.... It needs to be discouraged.
