Ever hear of Shannon Dawson? (new OC In waiting @ WVU)

OC at SF Austin last few years.... Is following Dana Holgerson to WVU. Him and Dana are good buddies. Supposedly he will take over at OC once Dana is te head coach. Keep an eye on him. Local roots, may be the next hot commodity in 3-4 years. Be nice if I had a source that went to LSU :( I'm a casual WVU fan but who cares.
Dunno if this is confirmed elsewhere or not, just know he's packing to leave and happy as hell

He was one of the coaches at southeastern when I was there when coach Mumme was there.

Seems like he's on the fast track. With WVU and Holgerson, you could easily see an awesome offense in the garbage big east. He's a HC candidate in 3-4 years IMO.
At least I know I'll get good tickets to next years game in Morgantown

You're right he's going. Shannon is a close friend of mine and this is a great move for him and it was only a matter of time for him. He is one of the best young offensive minds in the country right now. Great get for West Virginia and a great step up the ladder for him.

I played football in high school and graduated with Shannon. He's a good guy and I'm happy to hear that he's going to be getting an opportunity at a big time program.
Definitely will keep an eye on his progress in the future.

Did he and JC not get along? I know Harper can be very stubborn and hard to deal with at times. But I bet he's mellowed since his days as DL coach at SMS

He & JC have a great relationship and JC doesn't have anything to do with the offense, he spent his time with the defense. Shannon was in complete control of what went on offensively at SFA. He has been at SFA the last 3 years and they have broken almost every school offensive record and quiet a few Southland Conference records as well, and they just won back to back Southland Conference Championships & 2 Playoff appearances in the last 2 years. He has accomplished about everything you can at the FCS level outside of a national title. It was time for a step up the ladder and better opportunity.

He is from Clinton. He was the QB at Silliman. Good guy and glad to see he is doing well.

Well if he hits it big time, it's good to know if LSU ever wants to get into the air raid offense that there is a Louisiana guy in the coaching tree. Hopefully he is an LSU guy. I will keep an eye out on his progress.

I would think if he ever got the chance to come back and coach at LSU he would jump at it. He grew up 45 minutes from campus and I know would have jumped at the chance to play there had the opportunity been given.

Local guy + good qb coach
Lsu needs a qb coach
1 + 1 = 3

He rode the coattail of Jeremy Moses. Kid was good.

Before he was at SFA his first OC job was at Division 3 Millsaps College and they won back to back conference championships, went to the playoffs & had one of the top offenses in the country in D3. The guy shatters records, wins championships
& plays for the biggest prize both places he has been an OC.

We now have OC's in waiting?

I am glad JC has done well at SFA. When he first came into coaching he was a authoritarian type of guy, who was very very tough to deal with. He carried a chip on his shoulder from his dad (who was Ford's DC at Clemson) and learned some hard arse attitude from Kolling and his dislike for Miller. JC can develop DL, starting with Bill Walter at SMS to now. I think he was smart to leave the offense alone, but he also coached an all American TE at Notre Dame as a GA.

In this case at West Virginia yes. Dawson will coach the WR's & QB's only in 2011 & then when Holgerson takes over as Head Coach in 2012 Dawson will then become the OC.
