In 2002 he was in Gangs of New York and Catch Me If You Can.
At the Golden Globes he was nominated for Best Actor and was beat by Jack Nicholson/About Schmidt. Wasnt nominated for Supporting Actor. He wasnt nominated for a single Oscar.

In 2004 he was in The Aviator.
He won for Best Actor (as did The Aviator for Best Picture) at the Golden Globes. The Oscar for Best Actor went to Jamie Foxx/Ray.

In 2006 he was in The Departed and Blood Diamond.
He was nominated for both roles as Lead Actor in a Drama at the Golden Globes. Forrest Whitaker/Last King of Scotland won. At the Oscars Scorsese and The Departed win for Best Director and Movie. Leonardo is nominated for Best Actor but loses to Forrest Whitaker/Last King od Scotland.

In 2008 he was in Body of Lies and Revolutionary Road.
He was nominated for Revolutionary Road at the Golden Globes. Mickey Rourke won for The Wreslter. Wasnt nominated for either roles at the Oscars.

2010 he starred in Shutter Island and Inception.
He wasnt nominated for anyhting at the Golden Globes (yet Johnny Depp was twice, for Alice in Wonderland and The Tourist). And he isnt expected to be nominated at the Oscars either.

Ok. I know that was a long read (Edit: Ok it's actually not that long of a read, it just took me forever to get the post together). But every year his films, directors and co-stars take home big awards and he is left with nothing. This is rediculous. One of the best actors of our time who consistently puts in good performances in good movies has one Golden Globe award and and no Oscars to show for it.
THoughts?

He'll have to be comforted by those huge stacks of money. Though I do agree. He's been disrespected by Oscar, though I think he gets the ultimate respect by getting the choicest roles in Hollywood. What better praise is there than becoming Scorcese's go-to actor to replace DeNiro?

Not true. I'd argue the Oscars are the most meaningful of any major award. It honors the best in "mainsteam" film-making, and it does a pretty good job at it.

Great actors don't need awards to show their worth, just keep putting out those masterpieces Leo

If you look at it that way, nothing I guess. Still other actors getting "courtesy Oscars" over him is getting kind of rediculous.

Ok, then obviously this thread doesnt appeal to you. I tend to watch the award shows and like when the deserving win or for my favorite actors get credit for their work thats all.

It'll be like with Scorcese. Keep passing him over, knowing that eventually you get the chnce to give him an award. And hopefully he doesn't die on you.

And honestly, does he need one? Oscar's, IMO, are usually a doorway to more, and better opportunities (forget Cuba Gooding Jr.) Leo doesn't need that.

But some actors crave the recognition.

Very good actor who picks good roles, but I'm not sure a single one of these performances really was worthy of a Best Actor award over who actually won.

He really only deserved it for The Aviator and The Departed. maybe. And that's being generous. He's extremely good, and hits the great note every once in awhile, but he hasn't deserved it in all of those years.

Ive always liked the guy. He's one of the best out there. Of all his stuff I think I like his role in Blood Diamond the most. Perfect for that part.

whatever works for him. he chooses the best roles and kills it on a regular basis.

Leo is one of the best out there today and has been for a while now.

This is the one that kills me.

All the others you listed were pretty subjective, but this one to me (although still subjective) is the biggest crime.

I noticed in those that he was nominated for he was more of an Ensemble member in Departed and Blood Diamond. The Aviator was his vehicle alone, IMO. i'm trying to recall an actor who has won and was in an ensemble cast

Agree minus The Aviator. He was absolutely brilliant in that movie; it's genuinely hard to understate how good he was in that role.

No doubt, I think all of them are debatable.
I mean DDL and his Bill the Bitcher role got beat by Nicholson and About Schmidt too.

I think he had a very legitimate shot with The Aviator, Blood Diamond and Body of Lies(which he got no recognition for). It seems like the Oscars, more so than the Golden Globes, really don't like him.
