but we only had 6 last game, most of us in not that good of shape, so it was close at the start and blowout by the end.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.

I'm in passable shape for a 30+ guy. I can play 90 on a full field, I've run the last 3 BR half marathons..... I would have dropped if we only had 6 last night.

I expect you to lead us to the promised land, beans.

@Sheep: I was surprised at how well I held up. I usually get tired in a 90 minute full match, but this one I was pretty fresh in. I think it's my basketball background, as the game is much more start stop, short sprints and cuts, as opposed to long runs and constant jogging. While most of my former soccer players struggled with the conditioning. I think it's adjustment more than anything.

I think that's what it is for me, just the adjustment.

I play outside mid in outdoor, so I'm used to making my runs, and then jogging back when the ball is across the field, etc. More recovery time.

I played 3 stretches in the first half and 3 in the second (we had 9 field players), and I was sucking wind coming off the court each time, and I can't remember the last time that happened, in anything.

Update:

Varsity and Friends are now 2-2 after last night.

I think we play Fahrenheit next week, though.

I dont actually think sambas are right for this surface. IMHO you need turf shoes to avoid slipping.
I do wear sambas for chillin, but they dont really grip the indoor turf that well

I wear sambas - they work pretty well for me on that surface. Also, the registration email I got discouraged wearing turf shoes (even though the surface is turf, of course). I guess the problem would be knee injuries if your shoe catches in the surface.

yeah my sambas do pretty well too. I wouldn't wear turf shoes, that would suck.

I don't play, but I'm friends with all the guys on "Vinegar Strokes".

I hear they're pretty bad, has anyone played them yet? Have they started serving beer?

No beer yet. And I wouldn't tell people I was friends with the guys on "vinegar strokes", I've never met a bigger group of assholes in my life. And yes, they do suck.

We had someone new join last week. You just have to pay a prorated portion of the registration fee, from what I understand.
