The revision was necessitated by a miscalculation in the Colley computer rankings, where the Appalachian State-Western Illinois FCS playoff game was omitted from the final Colley rankings.

If that game is the difference in a team moving up 1 whole spot then the BCS is worse than imagined.

How the frick does the "Appalachian State-Western Illinois FCS playoff game" have any affect on LSU and Boise State when neither played either of these teams?

That is not even the worst part. That single game (Appy vs W Ill) apparently affected every teams SOS in the Colley poll.

Somehow 11 of the teams SOS increased, and the other 14 decreased.

Stanford (somehow) took the biggest hit, losing .65 points from their SOS.

VA Tech got the biggest boost with .51 points added to their SOS.

Every ranked Big XII, ACC, WAC and MWC team had their SOS increased. And likewise, every other team, including ALL SEC teams had their SOS decreased.

What the frick???

Never post over and just happened to lurk and find this crock of shite.

How in the hell does that one game effect that many teams that significantly?

BCS=bullshite.

By the way, don't think it's anything against LSU, fwiw.

Common opponents, brah. App st (and Western Illinois) played somebody, who played somebody, who played somebody, etc. etc.

Colley does some crazy (pretty creative, imo) ways to include FCS teams into his computer rankings. You can read how he does it on his site. And I'm glad he does. Wins or the occasional lost should be counted or have an effect on the BCS or FBS team rankings.

Of course, no one would have said anything or would have known, if the rankings were released correctly the first time.

So the omission of one really minor game (a game that was not even being played by teams governed by the BCS!!??) from one computer's calculation can completely alter the BCS rankings? This very fact unnerves me to the core.

How can we take the BCS seriously when an Div-1AA playoff game can potentially change who plays in the BCS National Championship Game?

So we aren't top 10 anymore? But that is what people celebrated this season for! What will they do now?

Who cares, this team doesn't need no stinking ranking to show them what type of season they had.

How does this happen? What if this happens one year and changes the 2nd and 3rd team. Jesus.

The outcome of the Appy State/Western Illinois game resulted in LSU being dropped one position in the BCS poll? Now, that really makes a lot of sense. I know the fact that we struggled to defeat Appy State was not good for us, but ........wait a minute! Wait a minute! Oh, I get it now. Appy State lost to SIU, who lost to Vandy, who lost to UGA, who lost to AU, who defeated LSU! Makes perfect sense to me now.
