Last week in the OU vs Okie St game was the first time I had seen the diamond formation. Its basically 3 running backs in the backfield with the QB in the shotgun.I actually think the announcers said the formation was thought of by the Okie State OC but OU ran it most. They ran many different types of plays out of this formation including runs and passes, finding success on them all. With our stable of backs this season and next, I really feel like this is a formation we could take advantage of but I feel like that would be asking too much of our OC...ya kno...using our athletic advantage over teams.

Nothing like giving teams another reason to load up the box.

You clearly didn't read the part about passing out of the formation. Loading the box isn't the best way to counter this. Just watch OU today and see if they run it

Best thing that LSU can do with the athletes we have is to avoid negative plays.

We need to line up in a pro-style offense and play ball control offense and beat people up on offense and play solid defense and special teams.

There is no reason to get cute with our athletes. Just learn to man handle people and dominate.

The best way to use our athletic advantage would be to spread the field and put guys in space, which of course is why we don't do that.

I thought fullhouse was qb under center with two backs like this:

-qb-
rbrb
-rb-

nah, read my post again.. two rbs behind the qb, and then one behind them.

The diamond seems like some kind of wrinkle on the pistol formation more than a true full house, but I can't find any videos/pictures of it

eta: here's a pic

it's a full house that's 5 yards back from the center instead of directly under center.

Great. Another formation that the current staff will only run 3 plays from.

We used to run this formation in youth football. Worked like nobody's business.

Yeah, I know nobody gives a shite, but it's nice to see it in a college football game.
