If Crowton needs a reference, I'll offer mine

Yeah. That's the reason why I don't want Crowton and I do want Hudspeth. I do like Gunter Brewer because he's a great recruiter

Lot of ignorant people in this thread, hendo. Of all Louisiana schools besides LSU, UL is the one that's in the best position to become a solid D1 program.

I could actually see Crowton doing very well here at ULL.
1) His option/ zone read will work in the sunbelt - defenses aren't as fast and physical as an SEC defense and Bustle was actually able to implement a similar type of offense the last few years with some relative success.
2)It's tough to recruit at UL for anyone - it doesn't matter who you are. At least Crowton is a "name" to a kid from LA. (yes, I realize that it may not be a good "name", but nonetheless - kids would recognize it).
3)UL needs to get Dan Hawkins type guys - those that will build the program up a little bit and then probably get offered a better job. It's not always bad if you do well enough to get to a bigger school. The best chance UL has for long term success is to make the program attractive for coaches looking to cut their teeth as a HC on their way up, OR those that have had some success as a HC before and want to get to a BCS conference school. Then just repeat the process. If UL aims to try to get a "lifer", chances are he's a coach nobody else wants. This system seemed to work for Boise State...why not UL?
4)Crowton is probably already familiar with a number of kids from the LA high school area...UL would already have a leg up on that vs. some unknown new out-of-state coach.
I actually see a number of positives when analyzing Crowton's possibilities as the HC at ULL.

Yeah, there's no point in trying to explain anything. Everyone I know agrees with me that Hudspeth is a slamdunk candidate.

Just don't tell Crowton that careers die there--and maybe Hudspeth won't have a good interview. Don't Tiger fans deserve that?

Id like to see them get the best coach possible but the last time they picked an LSU castoff it didnt get them great results

Wrong. 55K for OC. Bustle was making 220K. The total budget for ULL Athletics is 2.8 million.

Total assistant salary pool as of 2009 was $754,680. Lowest paid assistant was $69,800, highest paid was $114,400. Those numbers should increase. For comparison, ULM paid $421,000 total. Lowest paid was $0, highest paid was $65,000
According to the USA Today.

Actually the total budget is around 12million. The football budget is around 2.8-3 million.

Who cares they suck if they are smart they will pick Crowton what he accomplished going 10-2 with no QB this year is impressive. Our loss if he goes

Man Crowton is gonna be the slut of Louisiana university coaching positions. Skipping from one to the next and on to the next.

Apparently Ed O went down on his salary demands and he MIGHT be back in the mix. Nothing definitive though.

agreed. They just need to get the right coach in. Too many mistakes since Stokley left. The administration at UL has been clueless.

We were on the way to go interview Larry Blakenely when Dr. A made the decision to hire Jerry Baldwin. Soooo yeah.
