I'd be really surprised if it wasn't worth it to move with a 25% increase in pay.

I wouldn't be surprised, although it depends on where in texass and where in california. Taxes are a lot higher in california, property and state income, not to mention gas, auto insurance and general cost of living.

of course, california is a much nicer place to live.

But it won't be a 25% increase in take home pay. Since pay is only part of the decision, the increase should be calculated and factored in to make an informed decision.
