Broken windows...RUSTIC?!

Really?!

"Hello, Mr. 5-star recruit and family...welcome to Tiger Stadium! This imposing venue (complete with broken, dingy windows for that humble, rustic touch) is where we'd love to see you play your college football!!!"

As of Nov 1, 2010, all 428 of the 428 windows on the North End of Tiger Stadium have been sold.

Dear Tiger Fan, Prior to the 2010 football season we embarked on a campaign to raise funds to replace approximately 400 windows in the north end of Tiger Stadium, the beginning of a beautification project to enhance North Stadium Drive.

I am happy to report that our great fans have stepped up once again and all North End Zone windows have been purchased. It is clear that Tiger Stadium is important to LSU fans everywhere, and that was evident in the response to replace these windows.

There isn't an updated pic because no more windows have been completed yet. The day of the Alabama game I walked by and saw that exact picture of windows and the banner and it was the same then. Alleva has said that when the season was over that they would begin installing the rest of the windows and then that project will be complete. Although...................

The broken windows looked fricking terrible. Thank goodness they finally fixed it all.

the unspoken good thing about replacing the windows in north stadium is that the cost of renovating the interior space for something useful besides storage has dropped considerably...i'd be willing to bet that some interior abatement has been included as part of this project....

Rentable Condos under TS would bring in a lot of money.

I have a feeling they would sell out as fast as they were completed.

I was thinking more along the lines of Game Day tailgating suites ?

No way they will ever rent them out for living again.

i like the busted windows... its very nostalgic.

It's nostalgic in the same way that the crumbling walls of the Coliseum are nostalgic. Maintenance is essential to the preservation of the stadium. It was starting to remind me of the show on the History Channel--Life After People (I think that's what it was called).

It's kind of like this. If you get a rip in your jeans, the rip might look cool for a little while. But if you don't fix it, the rip will grow and you won't be able to wear the jeans anymore.

We have to give up a little cool now to make sure the stadium survives for future generations.

I am an estimator for a commercial construction company and while 2k seem a little high it’s actually not that crazy.
The sealants and waterproofing in the old windows most likely have asbestos so they will have to hire an asbestos abatement contractor to remove them $$$. The new windows look like they are wet glazed from the outside so a lift is required to install the new ones $$$$. Commercial glass is high dollar and working for a University always costs more due to stupid politics.
I think they look great

Found this image on the preservation of Tiger Stadium website.

When did LSU do away with the LSU lettering in the south endzone seating? That looked sweet!

That's what I actually meant by "rentable condos". Only I was thinking people could use them stay in for the weekend. Can't beat the short walk!

I've been advocating, not that anyone gives a crap, for renovation of the rooms for condo. rentals, gameday packages and such for years.

Those new windows look like custom jobs, too. I'm pleased they've made them to look just like the old ones. When I started reading the thread, I thought they'd look like many other old buildings where they take out old windows and put in new plate glass.

Kind of like this at Jesuit High in New Orleans.....I pass it every day, which is why I mention it. Go Crusaders!!!!

The new windows make it look clean and all, but take away some character. Not that I endorse crappy, unmaintained stuff, mind you.

Are some of you really not believing that TAF isn't making a profit off of this?

Oh, I'm sure they are, but to assume they're charging $2,000 for a $99 Window World window is unreasonable, too.
