It's as special as the other 8 conference games. I don't give a shite who it is, I want LSU to beat any other SEC team an equal amount. LSU has no rival, will certainly not have an SEC rival, and is too elite of a program to just focus on hating one school. We hate everybody. frick Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, Florida, etc.

Some of you kids on here that make light of OM-LSU rivalry should click on this link. It covers some of the wonderful history of the rivalry.
This game is huge! If Auburn loses to Bama and we win out, we'll get to hang a Western Division Champions banner!!!
Oh wait, we don't do that at LSU.
GO TO HELL, OLE MISS!

Why does Ole Miss vs. LSU Matter?
If you don't think so, 2 things. 1. Your not an LSU fan living or from Mississippi. Lived there most of my life, and I always look forward to this one. and 2. Growing up going to Jackson for my first LSU game in 1992 and first in tiger stadium against Ole Miss I'll never forget. I've been to alot of bigger games but the sight and sounds of those 2 games I'll never forget. Records don't matter in this one.
Geaux Tigers, Geaux to hell Ole Miss.

False. I'd say Bama and AU over Oxford.
I can see you haven't made many road trips.

Well said. There are few ppl in MS who are hated more than those of us who wear the Purple & Gold.

And I can promise you Les Miles knows how much Mississippi tiger fans care about this game. Before the 2005 season he was reminded on the Tiger Tour in Jackson.

quote:True. And don't ever think MSU is Ole Miss' rival. It's LSU and it always has been. There's nobody they enjoy beating more than LSU. And, for the life of me, I can't figure out why some LSU fans dismiss this rivalry. It ain't like we've dominated them over the last 20 years. Even in that 6 game winning streak we had from '02-'07, everyone of those games, except one, was very close.

I watched the 2003 LSU-Ole Miss game at my parent's house in S'port with my dad, uncles, and a few of their friends. They all graduated high school in the late 50's.
We drank bourbon and they told incredible stories about their biggest LSU-Ole Miss memories from back in the day. It was one of the best gameday experiences I've ever had.
Then Eli Manning tripped over his left guard's foot, and it became an even BETTER gameday experience...

Hey Reb, you been on here long enough to know that the majority of posters on here don't give a rats arse about LSU-OM history or any other history for that matter.
I can remember when OM students used to ride a special train down for the game. It used to unload over by the Old Alex Box and we'd go over and meet 'em and yell, Go to Hell Ole Miss. They'd throw whisky and beer bottles at us and we'd throw rocks at them.
I used to sell hot dogs and peanuts out in the stadium and I remember many of those games in the '60's and '70's. Always a great game and atmosphere. The young pups on here don't have any idea of what they're missing by not putting a stronger emphasis on it today.

Dude, why are you still trying to convince everyone that this is a rivalry? The great majority of fans don't think it is. Miss St. IS your rival.
FAIL.
It's always been a rival (maybe not to you). It will continue to be a rival as long as we keep playing them.

Historically this is and always has been LSU's biggest rival. It may not seem like it now but take my word for it, take my parents word for it, Toddy speaks the truth.

I agree. My dad loved the rivalry between Old Miss and LSU. Grew up hating Old Miss
When I was around 4 years old and Before I KNEW what football was...my dad taught me to walk around the house saying: "Go to hell Ole Miss, Go to hell!!...my mom didn't think it was very funny to be teaching a little girl that.. but it STUCK!! Now I am living in Mississippi surrounded by Ole Miss fans, and this is my favorite time of year....It is still MY biggest rivalry! so GEAUX to HELL OLE MISS!!!
