2011 Parking Situation

This is a really tough thing to swallow this morning (especially since we LOST to Nichols last night).
While it is not unheard for parking charges nationwide on campuses, LSU has steadily started to class out die hard fans, and leaned towards the fans that are a bit more affluent and wealthy.
This move for parking wreaks of greed, and looking at some of the areas that they are charging $40 per game to park in, it's just plain SUCKS! Basically, anything inside Highland and River Road they are charging something.
THE KICKER HERE IS: Apparently, you can't buy season passes to park in these areas...you have to go somewhere at 5pm on Fridays to buy these passes, and in order to get a spot in these zones, your arse better be out there not at 7-8am, but now...5AM! Are you f'n kidding me? Saturday Night in Death Valley will now be sponsored by Red Bull, No Doze, and 5 Hour Energy...
LSU, you are raping us on the big games, and devaluing the smaller games...now you want us to run to parking pass sale locations Friday nights prior to each game to buy a spot?
Out of town season ticket holders under this new policy are completely screwed...you now must take FRIDAY OFF to get to a parking pass location by 5pm Fridays before games in order to park on campus...
NICE!

We are out there @ 5am now. You really can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.
If it means keeping our spot on the old front 9, so be it.

I know. Oh well. Nothing can be done about it. It's LSU's property, not mine. I suppose they can charge what they want. We had a good run tailgating there for free.

Again, my issue isn't really so much with the fact that I have to pay now as much as it has to do with how much. $40 a game is insane to park where we currently park.

Most schools already charge for parking. FWIW

$20 to park in a dirt lot 3/4 of a mile from the stadium is pretty damn steep.

If I park there Friday do I have to pay Saturday
Posted on 11/17/10 at 9:24 am to tduecen
I just looked at the map and the spot where we park is still free.

Hey Bamaland,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...
Not only is it $20 per car, but (as FLTiga mentioned in the leading post) YOUR SPOT JUST BECAME MUCH HIGHER DEMAND. Where do you think all the folks on Tower Drive will be looking for cheaper parking? The size of your tailgate just got smaller, and you will have to take Friday off so you can be there at 5pm, or you may not get anything.
Our tailgate is currently on Tower and we can not afford $40, but we can deal with $20. We are looking seriously at the front nine. This is going to be a big ole mess! Thanks Alleva (the small thinker)!

My issue really is not the $40. If you are going to make me pay for parking sell me a fricking season pass for $240 and let me be done with it. Now I need to carry me arse to campus every Friday night to get a pass or risk not getting a spot.

True dat. Can you imagine the cluster-frick Highland Rd. is going to be on game days next year? Holy shite!!!

I copied Joe Alleva and Herb Vincent last night on this message that I sent to my tailgate crew.
"We all knew that this was coming. An extra $320 to $360 bucks isn't that big of a deal, however they figured out a way to make this a cumbersome process.
Their decision to not sell the parking permit in advance is another example of potential lost revenue for the university. They could collect the parking fee at the same time that season tickets are due. That would produce additional revenue for the university while allowing the Fans to avoid the hassle of purchasing parking passes before every game.
Instead, we are stuck with a system that will ensure more traffic congestion during game day. Can you imagine the lines involved with 8,000 - 10,000 cars trying to pay cash for a parking space. The traffic jam on Highland road will likely extend to Burbank.
Our friend from Duke is too far removed from the common fan. He simply does not get it."

Hey Bamaland....
If it is not us it will be someone else from Tower drive. Take a walk in that area for the Ole Miss Game on Saturday and look at how many folks are there that obviously will not be able to afford $40 for each game. The $20 spots are going to go FAST! They will be gone on Friday nights.
I predict that the Front Nine lot will likely be filled with overnighters. Could be a lot of fun.

You dont pay Louisiana State taxes?
Did the AD department buy up all the land that the state owns?

So now only the poor, down-trodden masses are true “die-hard” fans? Please don’t improve your situation in life so that you can remain a “die-hard” fan.
We more affluent and wealthy fans could use the extra seats on which to place our Leica and Swarovski binoculars while we politely applaud.
