My Mom a LSU Grad is going into surgery this morning. Her and my Dad left for Pittsburgh Monday where she is having the surgery. Dad is also a LSU Grad.
She's having a invasive brain surgery to try and fix a condition known as Trigeminal Neuralgia or the "suicide disease." It is called that because so many people kill themselves from the pain the condition creates. The condition occurs when a vein or artery traps the trigeminal nerve on the head causing constant pain and shocking to the persons face. Even the slightest touch could set it off. She's been going through this for over 3 years now.
I've seen my Mom fill out a living will. I've heard my Mom talk about the troubles that come along with a surgery like this. And in my mind I blew it off knowing she would be okay.
Not knowing she made a video for me and my sister, which I'll share with yall:
My Sister's
My Video
Every LSU football game I've ever been to has been with my Mom and Dad, never missed one with them. Her surgery is at 9.
Edit at 2:08..
I guess I need to update it in my original post since no one may read the other pages.
They are closing. They found a blood vessel trapping the nerve. Dr.Secula is optimistic of how the surgery went and hopefully the condition doesn't come back.
Edit at 10:53..
She's in ICU. Sore neck. Not on any seizure medication and last I heard there was no shocking. They found a artery trapping the nerve and a blood vessel around the nerve. They put precautions up for both hope the condition doesn't reoccur. She was conscious but drowsy and sore. That's expected after a 4 hour brain surgery tho.

Update. Last I heard she was conscious. Still had anesthetic in her which made her nauseated. The person she was rooming with was noisy so she didn't sleep well last night. Today they moved the lady and my Dad got my Mom ear plugs. She ate a lil bit of food today, and so far hasn't had any shocks to the face. Which is a good sign.

She was released from the hospital this morning. Just got back to the hotel.
She was moved from the Hospital to the hotel room a few days ago. Her and Dad watched as LSU beat Ole Miss last night. Dad took her to Olive Garden which took too much out of her. She feels bad today. Talked to me on the phone for a lil bit. She comes home tomorrow after a doctors appointment, if the doctor clears her to fly medically.

Prayers are with you and your family. My mom was very sick, a few years back, and needed surgury. The best thing you can do, is let her know how much you love her and stay positive. Much love and respect for your family and you. I hope everything goes best case scenario.

I pray that your mom will do well. I am in the medical field and have seen many, many patients go through this surgery. I bet she comes through beautifully. I am praying for this.

My maw maw suffered with Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) aka tic douloureux, and her pain was along the side of her jawline. I have seen how that pain can impact one's life, so hopefully she won't suffer anymore after the surgery.
Your family seems to be very special based on the videos your mom made, and I wish all of you the best!
