Nvm, didn't read that he's a punter. We don't need a punter with Wing and possibly Botts on board

I thought it was a little odd that they would spend a scholly on a kicker. I know they are limited but also thought I read they would be able to sign close to a full 25 this year.

I work with the kids father from what I heard he is an excellent punter nationally ranked but was getting knocked for his height 5"11. For a team with limited scholarships to use one on a punter he must have serious talent and great potential. Wish the kid the best.

This makes close to no sense whatsoever.

Wow! His only offers were from USC and Northwestern. They also have a committment from another kicker. Very interesting.

Maybe they think they won't be very good in the future and will rely heavily on the kicking game.

Since Kiffin came aboard and hired John Baxter from Fresno State as ST coach, there has been a lot more emphasis on ST. While Baxter was at Fresno State they led the ncaa in a lot of stats, including TDs scored by ST.

So far we have also gotten commitments from the #1 PK (according to Chris Sailer) and a Long Snapper that everyone was raving about at the Chris Sailer camp as well. Never really put too much thought into a LS, but I'll trust Baxter on that one.

Probably so Kiffin can gloat and tell the peeps he pulled a great prospect from LA. under Les Miles nose.

I thought USC could only sign 15, losing 30 scollies over 3 years. Whats the truth?

They can still use the EE exception. That is what they are doing this year. Will not help in the future if they fill up this year.Still will have to have spots available from the previous class.I think they have 10 early spots that can be used this year(TrojanAce would be better to answer that but i think that's the #.I know it's a pretty big number) so that would mean 25 could come in.If they use all 25 then 15 would be the max next year from what i understand by the ruling.

Yes we can have 10 EE. I would suspect mostly JUCOs coming in which is unfortunate but we need bodies on the OL and DL. We tried to get the punter and a DE to be EEs, but their schools won't allow that.

I'll give you one of our QBs (we have two of the top four QBs committed at this time), for Collins and Johnson! Actually Collins visited USC last weekend and gave it a 10. He's keep pretty hush hush about it though. Still LSU's to lose though.

Kris is a great kid and a very good punter. He did very well at both the LSU and Florida camps. I am a bit surprised that USC decided to take a punter, kicker and LS in the same class, but that should give them some consistency at Special Teams for the next 4 years. At this time, the question for LSU's 2011 special teams is: Who's the kicker going to be? You got the punter position covered, but who's going to replace Jasper at kicking?

The kicker that USC has committed is from Bakersfield, CA. His name is Andre Heidari and his parents are from Louisiana. Soccer player from a child that can kick the shite out of a football. Has offers from nebraska and fresno state as well. He has grown up a LSU fan because of his parents. He did really well at the LSU kicking camp last summer. Not positive but if we offered i am pretty sure he would take it. I dont know if he would be a good fit for us or if we are even interested. I have seen videos of him making a 60 yrd field goal. Lots of touchbacks on kickoffs. Good kid.

Touchbacks? Havent seen that in a long time from an LSU kicker. That would be a beautiful thing to finally see.

the reason you havent seen it is not because Jasper can't do it. Our strategy is to kick it to the 2 yard line in a place that our coverage guys can get too at the same time. Jasper can boot the ball out of the end zone any time he wants, we just focus more on hang time on the kicks and forcing the opponents to return the ball.

Drew Alleman supposedly is the kicker in waiting at LSU.

He's from Acadiana. From the few times I watched him in high school, he was excellent. He won the state title in '06 on a last second 45 yarder.
