Denver Post Today..Big Issues:Who, when?...Les obvious choice..

..."that brings us to the successor search, which is going on now. I'm told there are four people atop the target list: Bill McCartney, Alabama offensive coordinator, Jim McElwain, Auburn offensive coordinator, Gus Malzahn and LSU coach Les Miles."
Goes on to say the following: "Miles is the obvious choice and it's apparently a possibility. I can't blame him. Every time I wade thruogh the sleaze and sweat of the SEC, I want to take a really long, hot shower. The guy is three years removed from a national title, was 7-0 and sixth in the country and fighting for his job. He will have to take a massive pay cut from his $3.95M haul, but Colorado boosters can gather enough funds to make at least a respectable bid."

I like this quote.

Oh, please, let it be so!

I was told on the rant that no other teams from big conferences would ever possibly consider trying to get Miles away from LSU. I love all the absolute statements that people on here make with no merit.

Hope Les gets offered and takes the job. UC needs a "Big 10" style coach and LSU needs an SEC caliber coach who runs a program with discipline and order...
God, please make it happen !!!

Of course they are trying to justify the choice and don't get it. It's Colorado and it's in the Denver Post, and they aren't competing in the SEC week in and week out, and when do you really hear much out of UC? Really? Expectations are always quite minimul. That's why they are Colorado.

I'll chip in. And I am from Louisiana.
Who else is in? Let's make this happen!

I think he means that SEC fans have suffocating expectations and maybe that it's hard with all the competition to run a clean, non-thuggish program like Les does.

If I were Miles I would head to Boulder in a flash. Money should not be an option because I am sure he has plenty but to live in Baton Rouge or Boulder if you have no ties to Louisiana would be an easy choice. Expectations at CU are not near as much as here either. He owes LSU nothing since he is not an alumni or from Louisiana so if I were him I would be gone!!!!!

Dear Lord, thank You for Your many blessings. I do volunteer work. I help the poor and the needy. I give to the United Way and the ASPCA.I ring bells for the Salvation Army. I don't ask You for much. Please dear Lord, give me this one. Pease give Miles a one way ticket to Boulder, CO. In your name we pray. Amen.

Because of all the criticism coming from our fan base concerning Les there will be other teams very interested in a coach with Les' record and the fact he recruits top 5 every year and runs a clean program. Get a clue NegaTigers!

Maybe LSU could help CI with a $1 mil per year.
That's money well spent to get MIles' boot off the throat of this program.

Let's say Michigan is still Miles' dream job (I believe it always has been and always will be). If things get too hot in Baton Rouge, Miles might be lured away to go someplace "safer" where he can bide his time and keep himself on Michigan's radar and wait until the stars align at Michigan. He would have bolted for his dream job in 2007 but the timing was terrible. The Skipper shrewdly locked him up the week of the SECCG with a new contract to keep the team focused on a possible national title (a very wise move in the short term as it turned out).
So I think Miles will seriously think about any offers that may come his way in the next year or two. Colorado might be too far of a step down, but it's still an interesting project considering his history there and their move to the newly expanded Pac 12. McCartney thrived off SoCal recruits (far and away the most fertile recruiting ground west of the Rockies) and CU will be in the new Pac 12 South with one game a year in SoCal.
I think if Miles were an opportunist like Saban is/was, then he'd been taking a damn hard look at any offers and consider getting out while the getting is good. Especially if he doesn't sign Mettenberger...
Personally -- can't believe I'm saying this -- I think LSU should go after Spurrier if Miles leaves. Pay him an obscene amount of money and tell him his job is to beat the tar out of Florida and Bama. All involved will be selling our souls to the devil but it sure would be poetic justice to hire Spurrier to be our mercenary after Arnsparger left us to be AD @ Florida. It'd be fun to see if Spurrier could do with LSU's resources as opposed to Carolina's... and it would only add to the reputation the SEC has as a conference where we'll pay any price (even to former hated enemies) to vanquish the competition and bring home the crystal football. Deep down, I think Spurrier is damn hungry for another national title and it'll never happen at Carolina. And he knows it...

Quality of LIFE becomes the issue when you have that kind of money already.
He may tell LSU adios and move from cancer alley to God's country.

You could have linked a photo of the Flatirons that included CU. CU campus is the cluster of red tile roofed buildings in the lower left. The rest is downtown Boulder.

Interesting is all the talk at the end about how bad the support for the program is. I seriously doubt Miles would seriously consider going unless he had promises to do something about that.
