What do you think is really wrong with the Saints? We all know we have the following:

-Injuries
-Defense isn't forcing turnovers
-D-line isn't getting the pressure like last year
-Lack of running game
-Dropped passes
-Poor special teams
-Brees hasn't been "on" this year.
-O-Line blocking hasn't been up to par
-Inability to really stretch the field with our offense
-We've been outcoached in a lot of games.

We are very fortunate to be sitting at 4-3. However, we could also legitimately be anywhere from 5-2 to 7-0. It's obvious that we aren't just struggling in one particular area. It's all around. What is your honest evaluation of why the team and coaching staff is struggling so much this season?

We've turned the ball over 11 times in the 3 losses we have, if I am counting correctly. You cannot win like that. Take away those turnovers in each of those games and we likely win. We are then sitting here at 7-0 instead of 4-3. The biggest problem that is costing us games, are those turnovers.

There are other areas that need to be worked on, such as running the ball better, etc., however, despite all of the things mentioned in the list, we are capable of winning each and every one of these games if we protect the ball.

Nothing wrong with the D... Bottom line is turnovers and penalties are killing drives offensively. Our inability to run the ball doesn't help either.

You got it.

Back to back is not as easy as some here would lead you to believe.

I never said the defense was trash. All I said was that the Defensive Line isn't getting the sacks and pressure like they did last year (they are #19 in sacks) and they weren't forcing the turnovers like they did last year (interceptions #27 and fumbles which is actually #4). I'm aware we have a lot of injuries (esp. in the secondary).

I never mentioned that I thought they would go back to back. I just didn't think that they would lose to the Browns and Cardinals...

The Madden Curse!

No, but on a serious note the offense isn't as aggressive.

Last year the play calls where more aggressive (throw down field) and last year Brees didn't opt for the short screens so much.

Is this because the Saints' opponents are playing better D? I don't know, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't think the O-line has been consistently dominant as it was last year. A lot of holding calls and penalties by Nicks and others. They played well vs TB but the other games they haven't looked so good. Also, turnovers are killing us.

There are a lot of things not clicking with the Saints but hopefully they will pull it together soon... preferably Sunday night. I think we will be fine.

I definitely agree with this. I said earlier that it seems like we are hesitant to really stretch and throw down the field. We seem to be throwing more and more short screen passes and passes to the half backs in the flats. I think we may be doing these short, 5 yard passes in part to make up for our poor running game. Hell, we aren't even averaging 100 yards rushing a game. We really need Pierre and Reggie back. A consistent and potent running game could turn this offense into an unstoppable force imo.

We aren't forcing turnovers because our offense isn't forcing teams to throw by giving us a lead

the offense, the o line in particular, is not hungy.

If I'm Payton, I try to find some motivation for some extra amazing play from them. That being said....I'm going to get crucified for this.....

the leader of this offense, and without doubt the leader of this team is Drew Brees. The team is built around him, and you gotta admit.....he hasn't looked very Breeslike this year. Call it the Madden Curse, fatherhood, whatever, but he just hasn't looked the same.

This team will go as far as Brees can take us.

Right now this looks like a 9-7 or 8-8 team. They really need to beat the Steelers and avoid being 4-4. What worries me is losing to teams like Cleveland that would not have happened last year at this point in the season.
