Guys, look, I am livid about the way we lost on Saturday. It was a poorly coached game that was poorly executed by the players. It is amazing the score was as close as it was. However, I have read 7-10 post on here in the last 10 minutes that say that we are "mediocre" and we are "average" and other synonyms. That is complete bullshite.

I am not saying that you should be out there saying "Enjoy 7-1!! I remember when we used to be excited about 6 wins and an Independence bowl!". That too is horseshite. It is 2010 and this ain't your dad's LSU. We should expect the best and can be upset when it is not evident on the field. Afterall, if your goal is 2nd-best, why even step on the field. However, one loss is not the end of the world guys.

I have no problem with people worrying about the same ineffectiveness showing up against Ala/Ark and costing us more games, but those idiots who continue to say that this is an average team, that we are mediocre, that we are not a Top 15 program, blah blah blah... those guys are out of touch with college football in 2010. We are not competing with 2003 LSU or 2009 Bama, but we are competing within the parameters of the 2010 season, and we have the opportunity to play in a BCS game (maybe the NC), heading into November. Not exactly mediocre.

I agree with you. 7-1 ain't bad. It's not perfect but it's pretty good in todays college football. We're doing better then about 109 other colleges in Division 1.

You just have to let the season play out. Let's see how the games go. If we beat Bama and win out (Arky is gonna be a tough out up there this year) we WILL be the second SEC team in a BCS bowl this year. No one from the East will go if they lose to Aub in the SECCG. Have patience and after all the games have been played we can take an informed look at the body of work produced this season. In the meantime GEAUX TIGERS!

Agreed, I would just like to see this loss bring about some change. I like Les, but Crowton should've been left at the airport. Not to mention the terrible game plan by the Chief, who is also responsible for the total faceplant in the second half.

Overall, I think this is a huge game and provided we can get some kind of working offense with two weeks to prepare, I like the matchup. I'll say i'm cautiously optimistic for the rest of the season.

And thta is perfectly fine with me. The problem I have is when people let their emotions get the best of them and go off the deep end talking about how, at 7-1, this team is average at best and not even a Top 15 team. That is fricking preposterous.

With that record at the end of the season, it's probably good for a top 15-16 ranking, New Year's Day bowl. Would it suck yes, would it mean we underachieved down the back stretch again, would it mean that our offense still sucks...yeah. But still not mediocre. I'm always happy with a New Year's Day Bowl. Anything else is gravy.

That's called settling for second best. WOW a New years Day bowl! Big fricking deal. We can pay a coach 1.5 million to get us to a NYD bowl. When your one of the highest paid, you better win championships or GTFO

You just need to stop watching football, because it is never going to make you happy.

This game against upcoming Alabama is more than for just 8-1, 2nd in the West, and for more than just a big bowl game. It's to prove a point: that we are still one of the best teams in college football. It's for pride and tradition. It will be our chance to prove that we can still knock out the big dogs. This game is probably the single biggest game of this season.

It's because you are dealing with a lot of kids that honestly have no clue what mediocre is or what really good is. They have only been watching college football for less than 10 years. They THINK they know it all, but they honestly have no clue. The will learn over time, but until then, they know it all.

You're right in a way, but we shouldn't look at the record in a vacuum. It's not unreasonable to think that we could very well go 2-3 over the next five games and then start next year 3-3 with Tennessee, Auburn, Bama, and Arkansas still to come. Yes, any team COULD lose that many games coming up, but LSU hasn't done anything, even while building that 7-1 record, to make you think we'll do better than that. Without a tremendous amount of luck, we'd have 3 or 4 losses already. Luck doesn't usually hold forever.

Who are these kids who talk about? Everyone keeps saying the same damn thing. I'm only 18 and seem to know a lot more than some of the older members.

It isn't when only one of the 7 is against a current top 25.

By "happy," I mean the season wasn't a total waste. It's not settling because if we don't win BCS NC I don't feel like killing myself. You could make a Serpentor like super coach out of the DNA of the Bear, Rockne, Jimmy Johnson, Walsh, and even that guy is not going to win the NC every year. I wanna be Florida St. of the 90's as much as anyone, but they still only won two titles. Would you consider the other eight years that they finished in the top four a waste? Ultimately, what's the difference?
