Jordan Jefferson (This Year and Last)

I agree. I remember JJ passing the ball much better last year. Something is going on with him and his confidence. I think it's safe to say that he is better than what he has shown of late

This is one of his bigger problems, probably the main reason his passing stats are so poor. That and a noodle arm.

Remember. We didn't sustain many drives at all. Also, UNC was playing with young defensive backs that were out of position (defense & special teams). Even on his throw to Randle, ball was late and Randle had to wait on it. He was so wide open it didn't matter. Remember, Jefferson does not ever throw to where a WR will be. So that makes it very difficult to be successful at this level.

All of this shouldn't be any big surprise. Remember the spring game? He was seriously worse then.

I disagree with the poster who said that JJ has a noodle arm. I think his arm is more than adequate. what I don't understand is how inaccurate he has been compared to last year. I basically agree with the assertion that DC's have caught up with him, but the big drop in accuracy is still puzzling.

Anyway, while I hate it for JJ, the simple fact is that he is failing to move the team on a consistent basis.

I can't really think of any that have dropped off that much.

Snead for Ole Miss took a nose dive after having a damn good year in 2008. But his yardage and completion % only decreased a little. However, he went from 26 TDs and 13 Ints. in 2008 to 20 TDs and 20 Ints. in 2009. He had four games where he threw 3 or more Ints. And he was awful in their bowl game. Yet he decided to enter the draft??? Yes, in his sophomore year he was being projected as a high NFL pick, but he was really bad in some of his junior year games. He didn't even get drafted. I wonder who the hell he was listening too.

As for JJ, he has just gone backwards. I don't think it has that much to do with film because he has never been that dynamic. I'm sure there are some things that coordinators key on because of the film, but it doesn't take a whole year to catch on. His inability to get rid of the ball fast has been there basically since the beginning. Any coach with the Florida film from midway during the season last year should have been able to see every bad tendency he had. Yet, he had some of his best passing games in the back half of the season.

It seems like it's in his head and his attitude. It's hard to really get better when you're not quite willing to recognize that you need to improve. He holds the ball too long just like he did last year. But his accuracy has completely plummeted. He was way more accurate last year and it shows in his completion % and his Int./TD ratio. And our O-line and running game is actually better this year.

actually, he didn't. he looked left, then back right. he just threw about as bad a ball as possible. and it didn't matter if he stared at him because it was 1 on 1 near the goal line, he just needed a good throw.

That's actually an interesting comment comparing Gilbert and Jefferson. Film has a lot to do with game play and it seems to be exposing JJ's weaknesses. This explains why les is limiting lee's touches as well as ford. The less these guys play come auburn, bama, and arkansas week the opposing team will slip up as far as lining up the wrong way or misreading a play.

there was plenty of film on him for the Alabama and Ole Miss games. I thought he played well against them.
