Stupid people such as you all, are willing to get angry enough to SHOOT ANOTHER HUMAN BEING over a fricking hunting spot.
Since no one has said they would protect a public land hunting location with lethal force, I assume you realize we are talking about private property. Further, with the exception of one poster no one has said they would immediately shoot a trespasser on sight. Most have said that they are intelligent enough to realize that a person trespassing on hunting property is likely armed and have noted they would take the appropriate precautions when protecting their property. This being said those of us with property, money, and time invested in something has every right to defend our property regardless of your rolling eyes.
However, I assume you are the type of person that would let someone steal your car without intervening for fear of it getting violent over a stupid car.
The same type of person who doesn’t understand the reason that so many hard working, taxpaying, asset holding Americans want a stronger less porous border.
The same type of person who cries about the police abusing power while at the same time cries about the increase in crime, despite refusing to take any personal responsibility to protect yourself and your property.
The same type of person who wants tighter control on hand guns and firearms (for those legally possessing them) in an effort to make the world a safer place.
Keep your rolling eyes to yourself.
You clearly take the theft of your rights and property way too fricking lightly.

Although you are technically correct the law does read as such, there have been one or two cases in the last couple of years where someone was shot during a burglery during the day time and the property owner was found innocent in Texas.

No, you really don't. Trespassing is not a "defend property" situation.

I don't see that. There are proper channels. 1. Notify law enforcement. 2. File a civil suit.
end.

My grandfather was murdered by someone trespassing on his property.
Don't tell me that it isn't a life or death situation.

Trepassing in of itself may not warrant defending property per say but the destruction of property like cutting fences to gain access, stealing cameras, damaging stands, poaching managed wildlife ceratinly does.
Regardless, I have every right to tell you to get off of my property if you are trespassing. Just as I have every right to be armed when doing so. In the event the criminal chooses to escalate the situation, I have the right to defend myself.
"There are proper channels. 1. Notify law enforcement. 2. File a civil suit."
FWIW intervening on your own property is one of those proper channels. And although I agree notifiing the authorities is always the right thing to do and should be done as soon as possible (as I suggested the OP do) good luck with them actually catching anyone or stoping any activity. Furthermore, just how do you file a civil suit against an un-named un-identified trespasser?

Burglery is a whole different crime than simple theft.
Anyway, back on the other topics, shooting someone for simple trespass would probably lead to a murder charge.
To Yellowfin: I am related to a large portion of the people that live in that part of Winn Parish and that doesn't matter. I wasn't related to the last bunch we caught trespassing though. Even though all of our trepassers have been people fishing, I lock all our box stands even if they are on our property or on the club.

good god, if you only knew me IRL
You'd feel pretty stupid for posting all that.
IMO there are way too many people who take hunting way too serious.
If you are willing to shoot at someone for getting on your property, then yes you have a problem.
Call the fricking cops/gamewardens... thats what they are for.

Damn, ya'll still talking bout this shite?
Simple to fix......
STAY THE frick OFF MY PROPERTY.
Oh and game wardens cannot arrest trespassers, they can issue citations for illegally taking game.
I know this because I had an a-hole shoot 2 does with a bow during bow season on my property. I called LA DWF and they went to the guy's house and made sure he had not broken any game laws and told me to swear out a complaint with the JOP for trespassing.
That is why I now just call the deputies on any worthless piece of dog fricking shite who trespasses on my property. And yes I have blocked their arse in with the tractors until the deputies get there and have had worthless pieces of dog frick trespassers threaten to shoot me.
Again, morale of this story. STAY THE frick OFF OF PEOPLES PROPERTY.

Clearly you have failed to read my posts. I never advocated for shooting a person just for trespassing. I would certainly require the persons information and either escort them off the property or detain them until authorities arrived. Doing so armed is not only my right but advisable in this situation considering the situations in which you may encounter a person illegally trepassing on your property. Furthermore you will see I have advocated for contacting the authorities throughout this thread.
I fail to understand your logic that by not wanting trespassers on my property and not wanting property damage I am taking hunting too seriously.

If this is true great. However, it makes me question why you have an ideological problem with a person protecting their rights and property.

Another thought on trespassing is that if someone trespasses on your property and somehow gets hurt, they can sue you.
Might not win the case but you will still be out attorney's fees.

not to rain on the trespassing/shooting/blah blah blah, but does anyone have a guess at what those bucks would score? So far I've heard anywhere from 130-160? im not very good at scoring pictures but I was thinking the larger one would be in 135-145 range. Am I way off?
Posted on 10/12/10 at 3:34 pm to TigerDeacon
Also keep in mind you can be dead right about defending yourself and property and still spend a lot of money on lawyers to defend your good name. I have a Texas CHL and pack to protect myself. They taught us in my CHL class on average after killing a perpetrator you will spend $125,000 in legal fees even if the person was threatening your life, raping your wife and abusing your kids.
Bottom line is avoid shooting someone if you can.

I think this is right. The smaller one looks to be around 120in, give or take a little.
