Archie Manning/Harrah's restaurant/bar

Look like they are going to break ground in Jan. It's going to be located on Fulton St across from Ernst Cafe. It will be a bar and restaurant with outside seating. I think it will be a good fit for this area of town.

Guess this means that there is not going to be a sports bar in that area as had been rumored to be with the Manning name.

Doesn't seem like its going to be a true sports bar but we'll have to wait and see.

The Manning's hate and disrespect something I love, LSU. But I don't think they were counting on my business anyway.

I still can't wait to see what happens to this place when someone convinces Drew Brees to lend his name to an eating establishment in the same vicinity.

I thought Brees agreed to lend his name on some dumb sandwhich shop that was going to open in the city.

How many of us here have actually had any desire to try "Don Shula's Steakhouse"?
Even if Archie has Ferran Adria brought in as an outside consultant, I just don't think I'll be giving much thought to this place!

Never heard anything about this. Details?

This is a franchising thing where he's a part owner - his name's not part of the restaurant title.
Can't remember for sure, but I think this was mentioned when he was recently on the cover of Entrepreneur?

I think given the location and it having outside seating, it will be a good place to go have some appetizers and drinks.

What's got a better shot at staying power: Archie's place or the Walkons deal at the Smith and Wollensky location?

If WalkOns makes it, I will be disappointed in New Orleans.

Def. think Archie's place has a better shot. Being that close to Harrahs and the convention center business, as long as the don't do something low class with the food, it will probably do fine.

Brees is doing a Jimmy John's somewhere

If John Fourcade has part ownership in Walkons, the chances are equal. Otherwise, advantage Archie.

There is a new article in the paper today that makes it sound like it will be much more sports themed than I originally thought.
Will have LSU, Tulane, Saints, Giants, Colts, stuff all over.
I say if they don't settle for low end bar food, they will do fine. Harrahs is going to be running the operation, so I am sure it will be a little more expensive than it needs to be, but we shall see.
