Wow, it's very impressive what you folks have done. I'm hoping to do start down that path soon. One question for everyone, the thing I struggle with the most is fighting off the cravings to eat things I shouldn't or over indulge/binge. How you you folks handle that? Any and all help will be appriciated. Thanks.

The old lady got me on the treadmill a couple of days ago for the 1st time in a while. I've started up exercising and eating better a few times in the past and typically give up.
Well this time, I stepped on the scale right before I got in the shower this morning (haven't done that in a while either) and thought !
So here it is.. I'm going to give it my best shot this time - hence me posting in this thread. I haven't read all 600+ pages of this thread so correct me if I do this wrong.
Start - 222
Today - 222
Goal - 175

It's simple. You don't cheat ever. Unless its a planned cheat.

I am almost to 30 days of no cheating! But I am planning my cheat meal for vacation in another 30 days

One thing that I find helpful is to get a app that counts calories. Set yourself a limit and know that once you get to that number you are done. The app shouldn't have such a low number that you starve, although you may want more the goal is all you need and you got to trust it. It sucks going to bed feeling like you are hungry, but trust me after a few days/weeks that feeling goes away. Good luck!

Anybody ever read this book?
I just picked it up after a recommendation from a friend. I've made great strides over the past couple of months. I checked in around 190 beginning of May and today I'm down to 170.
I eat better, run, exercise daily etc. Mostly I've done this on my own, but a buddy recommended I read this book.
The premise is that the "calories in, calories out" model is bad science and not the actual root cause for weight gain. I've had pretty good success cutting calories, and I just started the book so I'm interested to see what I learn.

Can't be any worse than the stress induced meltdown I had for the last 10 days.
Project Audit now over I might be able to regain some composure.

Thanks for the info. I just feel like a crack addict sometimes when it comes to the cravings

It makes it a lot easier knowing you have a planned cheat meal coming. You also might try fasting a day or two a week. Besides having health benefits and aiding in your weight loss, it really helps you learn to control hunger and learn the difference between being full and no longer being hungry. Also as long as you don't have high blood pressure are a heart condition an ephedrine caffeine combination really helps with appetite and accelerates fat loss.

Was 245 after wife got pregnant. Always joke "when she got pregnant, so did I"...
178. Yeah buddy!
I was tucking my shirt in for my son's little church play.. That's not a trim spa pose
Didn't tell anyone I was dieting. Just portion control. For a couple weeks I didn't make foods I really enjoyed. Then after a while I just couldn't eat as much a I use I be able to.

Ok, throwing my hat in too since it looks like there are a bunch of newbs listing info
Currently 202 with a goal of 180. High watermark was 220ish.
Trying to hit the goal by August 22 because that is when I've signed up to climb Mt. Rainier. (Side note: I've never climber anything before)
I figure training for the climb in August and a 340 mile kayak race in late July, should give me plenty of opportunity to burn calories, I just need to really clean up the diet.

I didn't mean to offend anyone BTW. I have kept up with this thread on and off from the jump. Like when I quit smoking I didn't tell anyone I was trying bc I guess I was scared of failure so I kept it to myself. Some great tips in here. Keep up the good work guys.
