No offense, but this is absolutely the dumbest argument I have ever engaged in my life. Let me get this straight.... You are trying to tell me if you took groups, both consuming an equal number of calories. One group does zero exercise. The other group engages in moderate intensity exercise five times a week. There will be no difference in weight loss between the two groups?

I said most people burn out. Most people fail at weight loss. They give up when the burn out.
First off most people will quit no matter which path they take.
I said TWICE to each his own. What works for one person won't necessarily work for another.
I can't tell you how many times in this thread alone, people burned out or were frustrated when the scale didn't move while they were lifting weights.

I understand that people burn out. People burn out on diet as well. People have to figure out works best for themselves. Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought you were arguing that exercise doesn't aid in weight loss which is an absurd argument.

I said it can cause gains which can lead to people quitting.
As I said, if people can stick to it, then it works but most people cant. And I also said most will burn out and quit no matter which path they take.

I think what you're misinterpreting is that he said putting on muscle can stop the scale itself from going down. In that sense, it can cause stalls and slow 'weight loss'. It will, however expedite fat loss, which is the goal in the end anyway.

No, I just believe a person with massive amounts to lose might have a better chance with diet only.

Yeah most people are focused solely on the # on the scale. I asked someone recently if they would rather lose 80 pds and be 20% bodyfat or lose 50 and be 10% . They said 80. When I asked them why they said they wanted to lose weight.

This is why a regular old tape measure is a better tool to monitor your progress than a scale.

Well in myths defence , he clarified to say he thought exercise could be a detriment because someone could get burned out from trying to do to much at once though that's not what he said at first.
