gf decided to buy a scale this weekend. I haven't owned one in years; so I did a bit of an experiment this week of not eating past 7 pm. (I normally eat between 8 and 9) and I also flipped lunch and dinner, having my larger meal at lunch and smaller meal at dinner. haven't exercised since a long run Saturday morning. results:
Tuesday morning: 180.8
Wednesday morning: 178.8
Thursday morning: 176.6

My wife started back on weight watchers which is great! Basically do low carb, high protein. Not too worried about weight right now. I just want to be down in August/September during marathon training

Not sure how I've not seen this thread before, but here goes.
I'm 5'8 and after Xmas I was at 210 By FAR the heaviest I've ever been by a mile. Here's what I've done since:
Cut out all soft drinks, fast food, and high fat cajun foods (The 3rd was how I gained so much weight)
I was eating about 1700 calories per day and from Xmas to 3 weeks ago I got down to 195. Since then, I bought what's called the "Body Bugg" which has definitely helped in logging calories and showing how much I've burned throughout an entire 24 hour period. I just recently started working out about 10 days ago and I've dropped an additional 5 lbs to an even 190.
Right now I'm eating about 1200 calories and burning about 3k per day. I've also really gotten addicted to water and drink about 2 gallons per day.
I'll keep updating this thread once per week. My goal is to get down to 170. I made a deal with my wife. If I hit the 170...it's PIIHB time How's that for motivation

5k in 33:58. I had to stop jogging and walk about 3 times for about 1.5 minutes each time.
Doing my first one this Saturday here in baton rouge. Super pumped for it. I've gotten my mile time down to 8:42 from 10:37 2 weeks ago. I have to admit though, I haven't tried to go beyond 1.5 miles. I'm super nervous

just to temper your expectations, it's a lot harder to run that pace at 3, 4 or 5 miles. this coming from a guy who runs about 20 miles a week. shoot for under 9min/mile and if you hit it I'd be very pleased if I were you.

My goal is to just finish under 30 minutes. I've never ran anything over 1.5 miles in my life so it would definitely be a big achievement. Getting the breathing down was my biggest problem. It SEEMS like I've gotten it figured out..at least I hope

well good for you I don't think it's supposed to be humid this weekend. the drier, cooler air definitely helps.

quote:that last mile is a beast. The only thing that kept me going was trying to finish faster than my brother ran a few weeks ago. Make sure you rest your body properly before and eat and drink right leading up to the race. Good luck and come back and let us know how you did.

Yikes! Big jump up this morning after the debacle that was Thursday. Started out fine when I had a salad for lunch, then some cookies, then some homemade cookies.
At the least, that scale reading should motivate me to stay away from DONUTS!

How do you flush it out? Just workout a lot (sweat) and drink a ton of water? My cousin is in from Afghan this weekend and I'm doing a crawfish boil for him. I plan on eating some

Yeah just keep up the cardio and drinking water. It seems to take me a couple days to get back to my previous weight after I have them, soo good though. Enjoy your boil!

You flush the toilet.
Water weight,is just that. Water. Once your body rebalances from sodium overload, you expel the extra water. For me it takes between 24 to 48 hours, sometimes a little longer.
