Do plays change the fact that he throw the ball 5 feet over the receiver's head or 5 yards in front of him? Do plays change the fact that on option plays he never pitches it? Do plays dictate that he stands there and looks scared to make a mistake? No.
No, and I never suggest such.
But what people need to realize is that, if history is any indicator, every QB is going to struggle in this offense. Not one QB has played well under Gary Crowton's option scheme, and this includes two guys who are in the NFL right now.
He literally killed BYU's program with this offense and was on his way to killing Oregon's.
We can't kick our only two scholarship QBs off the team, but we sure as hell can give Crowton his walking papers.

Just for comparison sake. JJ has thrown 2 TDs this year and 4 INTs...he doesn't take care of the ball...
Compare to what? I wasn't making a Lee/Jefferson comparison.

They definitely started running a ton of read routes and thats what was killing Lee
They starting doing more option routes in 2007 when Crowton got here. There were numerous post practice comments and articles about players talking about how they enjoyed the new option routes and the new look things that they didn't get to do under Jimbo.

They installed a few and it was a minimal amount compared to what they run now. The 2007 passing game still relied heavily on a pro-style formation with tons of play action and roll outs.

Whatever offense their running SUCKS. No denying that.
Sadly it's not all JJ's fault. Against WV he made some nice passes early that would have helped continue drives and build confidence. The TT drop for an Int is the perfect example.
It's a combo of this "Clusterfuk Offense" that is doing it. The same as last year. It's part OL, part QB, part WR, part OC, and part HC. There is plenty of blame to spread.
I'm definitily for giving JL a shot. But, sadly I don't think it will change much. No matter what QB you put in, they can't make Chicken salad out of this Chicken shite offense.
This is a Miles and Crowton ship and their sinking it.
Also, in Miles' mind nothing is wrong. He's used to Bland Big Ten teams that play good defense and special teams and crap offense, but win. As long as we win, he doesn't see a problem.

in 2007, Flynn ran it 100 times.
in 2008, the 3 QBS ran it 95 times.
in 2009, Jordan ran it 112 times.

Step One: Turn on computer
Step Two: Google "option route"
Step Three: Read
Step Four: Analyze
Step Five: Profit

To me, it seems like a large number option routes in an offense would be the worst thing you could do to a college WR, and a college QB

On quarterback Jordan Jefferson:
"I have had quarterbacks not nearly as talented as either one of these two guys. ... It's an offensive issue. It's one that we need to make sure we correct collectively. ... I've had quarterback's that have not played well ... but they seemed to get better and I suspect this will happen again."
On if Jefferson will start:
"Yeah."
He continues to blame it on the "offense". It doesn't occur to him that the offense sucks because of the quarterback play. If he plays Jefferson the rest of the year like this and we end up with 4 conference losses, then I hope he is fired and should be.

2004, BYU
John Beck had 2563 yards passing (15 TD/8 INT). he had games of 390, 358, 319 and 313 yards
2005, Oregon
Kellen Clemmens only played 8 games (he was hurt the last 4) but he had 2406 yards passing, 19 TDs and 4 INTs. he had games of 348, 332, 393, and 425 yards.
Dennis Dixon added another 777 yards passing with 6 TDs and 3 INTs. he had 143 yards rushing.
Jordan has only had 5 games (out of 18) over 200 yards passing, and never more than 250.

I used to support Les Miles with a passion, I love LSU and I have a great want for them to succeed and that is exactly why I have decided that we need to fire his dumb arse! I can't bear this cross any longer,....I love any player who wears an LSU uniform and works hard and does his best. I care about Jordan Jefferson, but that has little to do with the success of this team. He needs to grab a cliboard and stand on the sidelines for awhile and watch another hardworking student athlete have his chance. Jarrett Lee can do no worse and deserves his chance again. If nothing else JJ might gain some confidence if JL messes up and he might feel less pressure to excel. He might learn something, he might get motivated, and JL might actually improve our offense's production, he might open up the run with a threat of a completed pass and most importantly I will never see that option to the short side again. If Les Miles stays on after this year, Crowton definitely must go, the sooner the better!!!!!!!!!

John Beck under Gary Crowton:
192/344 2563 yards 55.8% 15Tds/8 Ints 128.14
BYU (5-6) #58 offense in the country (Beck rated #56)
After Crowton left:
2005:
331/513 3709 yards 64.5% 27 Tds/13 Ints 137.5
BYU (6-6) #11 on offense (Beck rated #33)
2006:
289/417 3885 yards 69.3% 32 Tds/8 Ints 169.0
BYU (11-2) #4 on offense (Beck rated #2)
Oregon:
Didn't install his offense in 2005 because of same reason as 2007 - 5th year senior QB and a senior loaded team.
2006:
Dennis Dixon
197/322 2143 yards 61.2% 12 TDs/14 Ints 120.6
Oregon (7-6) #11 offense, but Dixon was the #70 rated QB
The year after Crowton left:
172/254 2136 yards 67.7% 20 TDs/4 Ints 161.2
(9-4) #9 Offense, Dixon rated #3 QB in country

I'm not bringing my 5 year old to watch boos and cussing. Not that J Lee wouldve brought cheers only but this is outta hand.
Posted on 9/27/10 at 5:08 pm to Antonio Moss
Uh, not trying to defend Crowton, but that should naturally happen to QBs from their Sophomore to Senior years.
You know, improve.....something that JJ hasn't or probably never will.

You do realize that despite the scheme, size of school neither Crowton or LSU has ever been ranked this low
Sorry, it all points to the offensive leader. The OLine is no longer an excuse. All QBs have drops and tipped picks, that's no excuse either.
But 3 subpar passing outings and the 4th, and best outing, against a questionable defense, points to one source. The QB
