I honestly believe Saints are to blame for Hartley's poor kicking

Hear me out...

The entire offseason has been a "praise Hartley" fest. Don't get me wrong, the kid earned it, but he is still a very young, inexperienced kicker.

During training camp, absolutely NO competition was brought in to atleast puch him to work harder and get better. None. All he did was kick fg's by himself with no pressure of a veteran kicker looming over his shoulder.

I don't know how seriously he took the offseason. I don't know if he thought "i'm the man and a nola celebrity. i can do no wrong."

Well, now we will see how seriously he wants to play in this league. Competition is being brought it and Hartley needs to rise to the challenge.

I am rooting for him

I hope he will. I like him and he has a strong leg. I hope he responds to this wakeup call seriously

I personally don't care what happened to him in the offseason. He's our starting kicker. Make a 30 yd FG when we need you.

Agreed, but it hink the fact that he had no pressure to lose his job caused him to be a little laid back and not work as hard as he should have

It's not hard to believe that. If he doesn't get it together quick, he will be gone.

Payton doesn't give kickers many chances

The entire team was praised all off season, it's not an excuse if he has poor work ethic off the field and it affects him on the field.

I hope he gets his shite together.

I work for Entergy. If I go out on five jobs and electricute myself or burn down a house on 4 of them, I would get fired!!!!!!! I love what he did for us last year but it is a new year and time for you to get your act together, for another team!

We can't blame Hartley for the loss. He has equal share in the loss as does everyone.

If a pass would've been caught, if a block would've been made, had Thomas cut this way, etc.

Bottom line, business was not taken care of in regulation. We need FGs, but we shouldn't have to rely on them all the time.

Not blaming him for the loss, its not entirely his fault because we shouldn't have been in that situation

I do blame him for the way he has been kicking

I don't think it was necessary to have a kicker competition this offseason.

Hartley was coming off kicking the Saints into the Superbowl, and going 5-5 in the playoffs, including a SB record (3) 40+ yd FGs in the SuperBowl.

not to mention he made 14 of his 16 kicks overall last year.

You can't insult the guy by having a kicker competition after that. Sorry, you just can't.

I agree 100%. There was no reason to bring a kicker in at all
