Cowher's team had also complied a record of 149-0-0 in games in which they scored more points then the other team

They were 0-90 when they allowed the other team to score more points as well...

Hmmmmm. I think I see a pattern there.

At least you have the sense to call it a fact (which it is) and not a stat (which it isn't).

why not?

unless you think consistent dominant defense and a good running game can't be the coach's fault

Bill Cowher's legendary status amazes me. Decent coach, but not the juggernaut some make him out to be.

Cowher is one of the best coaches ever. & quite the innovator too. Was running the spread & the wildcat (w/kordell) in the 90's, first coach to unleash the zone blitz when EVERY other coach in the nfl was playing the 4-3

That experiment didn't go really well.

He was consistent, for sure, but he was at Pittsburgh for 15 years with one championship (and he got out shortly after while his stock was sky high). In today's NFL, no way he'd survive 15 years anywhere.

Let me preface this by saying I'm a HUGE Cowher fan:

Will people please stop calling every single formation with an athletic QB the wildcat?!?! The wildcat is a specific play with specific blocking assignments. It'd be like someone calling every single running play the zone stretch regardless of what it actually is.

That's all Dick LeBeau. Now Cowher definitely gets credit for hiring him and allowing him to run his defense but that's LeBeau's defense all the way.

I had to google Td's quote to see where it was from. God bless Wikipedia and the enthusiastic basement dwellers who keep it full of such rich content.

Go back and look at how many players he lost to FA during that time period and then judge his record.

Yeah Cowher didn't come up w/ the zone blitz or the offensive schemes but he let his assistants use it, not many coaches would. Plus he gets bonus points for firing the zooker
