We had a tripod feeder that a bear kept getting in. Had game cam pictures of him climbing the feeder. We had to drill 2 2x4's about 20 foot up in a tree and attach a boat winch to it so the bear couldn't get in it. It is a pain though to crank it up with about 100 pounds of corn in it.

These hogs are infesting everywhere. I know in some areas they will run the deer out of there. I have also read that fawn survival rates are way lower in areas with wild hogs.

I know south of venice,la they have taken over and it's amazing how many hogs have populated in a short time since hurricane katrina. They root up the marsh land and have made it harder on the deer. And they look to be mostly russian. I killed 3 in one hunt about 6-7 in a few days. Some family of mine killed over 20 in one day with man/4wheeler drives. I don't know if there is anyway to stop their population growth though. They have so many babies and can reproduce several times a year.

Hogs can be a real problem when they start competing in the same habitat w/ deer. You can do the math yourself:
# of litter/year-hogs, 3-4. Deer, one. Advantage hogs.
# of young ones/litter-hogs, 6-10. Deer, 1-2. Advantage hogs.
size of home range-hogs, up to 10,000 acres. Deer, couple hundred acres. Advantage hogs.
food-hogs will eat a much larger variety of food than will deer. Advantage hogs.
intelligence-in the animal kingdom, hogs are actually highly intelligent. Advantage hogs.
Bottom line, whenever wild hogs move into your deer hunting woods, you need to help out the deer by killing hogs. You probably won't kill enough hogs to significantly alter their population, but the hunting pressure may cause them to move to a different area.

They don't just wonder around in the daytime. If it were that easy, I would have already shot them all myself.

Need to trap them.
