Why not just run the ball down their throat? We know their defensive line is undersized compared to ours and most SEC-quality lines. Does this not leave them vulnerable to the power running game?

That seems to be the gameplan against solid defenses, so I don't see why that will change this weekend.

i dont think we have much of a choice seeing as how we really are no threat to throw it.

I expect us to run about 65% of the time against them. I think Ridly will be getting a workout.

If we do this can we pleeeeeeeeeeeeease use play action more.

I think we only used it three times against MSU.

Exactly. They could line up in a nine-man front and the gameplan would still be run first. Having watched them a bit this year, this will be the best line and running game they will have faced so I do not believe they maintain their lofty rush defense numbers this week. If JJ can make accurate throws( and the guys hold on to the ball) the WVU secondary cannot cover the three amigos.

3-3-5 is not as bad against the run as you may think.

Don't let Crowton overthink this. He may decide to air it out.

the scheme isnt what I'm excited about, its our guys' talent.....and hopefully they execute the way that we know they can.

But it's not as good as a 4-3 against power running. Sure you'll have a little more speed out there, but what's the point if they can't tackle?

I don't remember seeing it that many times.

I'd like to see Ridley, Gore, Ware and Ford pound on the DBs to soften them up for Shepard and the passing game.

total bs, from an obviously intellectually challenged individual that can't see the bigger picture. LSU and jefferson have had nice passing days in the past and will again. Your post saying they don't have that capability reflects your intelligence.

I think it reflects his frustration, not his intelligence. And he's not the only fan that feels this way.

Because the modern 3-3-5 is really like a modern 3-4 with a safety playing OLB...

and the Modern 3-4 is really like the old 4-3 with a "rush linebacker" playing a stand up DE...

There will still be 7-8 "in the box"; It's not like there are 3 DL and cloud coverage the whole game.

So what you're saying is the 3-3-5 is really just like a 4-3, except you have one undersized DE and one undersized linebacker?

I thought so. All that says to me is they don't have guys with size that are also athletic, so they take the lesser of two evils and play the undersized guys with speed instead of the big slow ones.

This whole scheme just screams "bend-don't-break" to me, but when you're 20 pounds light across the board, you'll get bent all the way to the endzone.
