If your before 1-2 Darymple. And just find somewhere on campus near the entrance. Most of the streets are blocked off on the inside of campus so try and park on the outskirts and walk in

All of these responses about traffic are extremely relative to the time you are coming to campus. If you get to campus before 9:00, there won't be much traffic at all. It gets worse as the day goes on. Just come early, and you'll find a place to park within a 1/2 mile of the stadium easily. I know you'll be able to park at the Parker Coliseum (Cow Palace) until about 11:00. After 12:00, it gets hairy. So, get there early, and have a good time.

You can't avoid the traffic. Football plus Friday traffic in BR. After the game plan on staying put for a while. If possible get to campus early and if you don't mind a walk you are probably best off if you park further away than really close in.

Make sure to get off on College..go all the way down until you hit highland and Take Highland to Campus

I will be coming to the game tomorrow morning, and havent been to Baton Rouge in a while. I hear it has changed tons since Katrina. Any advice you guys can give me of places to avoid traffic wise and safety wise. Thanks for any help you can provide me.
Hoping for a clean, hard fought, injury free game tomorrow.
I'd wear a helmet when in the stadium(hardhat would do it)..you are going to get batteries, food and probably piss bags thrown your way..LSU fans are mean..Also hold your head down and do not fight back when LSU fans tigerbait you..you can fight them but you will get hurt because there are nothing but tiger fans for as far as the eye can see, most of them drunk..
Do not display large MSU lettering on your car unless you want it shaken while you are driving or you want the car badly damaged
j/k..quit being a pussy and just have fun at the game..i love how out of the area folks are such vaginas about going to LSU games..this isn't a fricking tea party..just have fun, smile and don't start shite and things will go beautifully

Considering the series record, there's generally no hard feelings between Tiger fans and State fans.
I recommend wandering around campus in the afternoon from the Parade Grounds (the big grassy area in front of the Memorial Tower, in the middle of campus) to the parking lots on Nicholson, show good spirit when tiger baited from a tailgate, ask what smells so good, and you'll probably be offered a taste of food and a drink.

know there will be traffic but what will be the best way in? Last time I was in BR I took Dalrymple (sp) is there a better route into campus or one with less traffic coming from Denham springs on I-12?
What time of the day?

Get into town before 1 PM. Maybe take Dalrymple, stay to the right on the exit and head into campus, take a right on East State street and find some parking near the corner of Highland and E. State Street.Check out Chimes, reginellis' , walk past the parage grounds, the indian mounds, down the hill to Tiger stadium. Should be some good tailgates and stuff going on.

You will certainly want to be like the half of the fans and be sure to leave at halftime so you can "beat the traffic", then head home to the Rant and bitch and moan and groan that we only have 7 home games this season.

Coming from the Denham Springs area, pass Dalrymple and exit on Government street. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and head toward the river. You'll need to negotiate a few turns, but your intent is to get to River Road headed south. There's a few extra turns between Government Street and River road so you'll need a map or GPS. You should find plenty of parking out there as well.
I'm not sure about the parking on River Rd, but if you want to avoid Dalrymple, this is actually not a bad idea. Pass the Dalrymple exit, stay on the right and follow I-110 (do not go over the MS River bridge!), exit at Government and get to River Rd. Once you find a spot on River Rd., hike down to S. Stadium where the Vet school is. In general, AVOID STREETS NAMED AFTER PRESIDENTS OR FLOWERS.
WildTchoupitoulas posted a map above which is pretty on target about the areas to avoid (mostly north of campus).
Crime after Katrina is still mostly located in the same bad sections of town, so you should be ok.
Hope you have a great time (except for losing, of course!).

yes. Coming on 1-10, when you see the big green sign that says "LSU Left" it means for you to turn around and go back home. Have a great drive
Seriously? What are you, 12?

Traffic in Baton Rouge gets worse and worse every year. The price of progress I guess.
If you hate traffic, get up early and go tailgate. If you're nice to LSU fans and smile when they yell "Tiger Bait!" at you, they may even offer you some jambalaya and a beer. Bring a TV or make friends with at other tailgates. It is said that half the people in the parking lot don't even have tickets, they are just there to tailgate. If you don't tailgate for at least a couple hours, you really are missing out on the full experience.
As for driving to Tiger Stadium, take the scenic route. Take I-12 and exit Sherwood. Go south on Sherwood to Coursey. Head over to Spanky's and get yourself a daiquiri. Head back down Sherwood, cross over Airline and down Siegen all the way to Highland. Drive up Highland past under the stately oaks all the way to LSU. If you need another daiquiri, stop at Daiquiri Cafe on Highland at Lee.
Enjoy the game. And if you drink enough, you may think your Bulldawgs won even if they lose. Either way, my advice to you is to drink heavily. When in Rome...

Watch it dude. Someone might accuse you of thinly veiled racism instead of merely possessing common sense and carefully accumulated tribal knowledge to avoid unnecessary risk to yourself and your property.

ETA: there will be over 100,000 people on campus.
Not a good estimate considering Tiger Stadium holds ~94,000 alone
