WHY does Chavis insist on blitzing so often with the best cover corner in college football? Maybe, just maybe, he would be more useful in coverage rather than running full speed at the QB?

I'm not going to spend the time but I promise if you search you will find no less than 4 posters asking or suggesting that we should blitz with PP more this year all dated prior to this game.

Well hopefully he doesn't do it anymore because I saw one time where Peterson blitzed and he took at least 3 seconds before he actually started blizting...

Is he figuring they aren't throwing at him anyway so it may be the best way to utilize his athletic ability.

meh...all the negatigers do when you try to reveal their catch-22 to them is ignore it.

They don't respond to logic, only impulse.

Actually I think Peterson blitzing is what got us the safety. Just before the snap Peterson started to sneak in, and it looked to me like the QB looked right at him just as the ball was snapped.

I am not buying the hype, that LSU has the best corners.

Still, I agree, blitzing Peterson seemed a bad decision. Hopefully they learned.

I was extremely impressed by the "kid" Mathieu's closing speed on his blitz off da corner on NC's QB on 4th, he lit him up!

that kid will do great things in da future!

I don't think Peterson blitzing is so bad, but I would much rather him be out in coverage when the offense is down by a lot and has the throw the ball. I think Mathieu showed that we have other fast defensive backs who can run a blitz.

At least he could disguised the blitz. UNC knew exactly where he was and who was in coverage. Brilliance!

Peterson blitzed b/c of his speed. The thought is.....put your fastest guy in the blitz and he will get to the QB.

They threw at him last night. Even late in the game.

I'll probably get slammed for saying this but Peterson is a little overrated as a coverage guy. I don't think it's a coincidence that the QB wasn't afraid to throw, and complete, passes to the guy Peterson was guarding in crunch time.
