Would you all support a law that weaponizes citizens against one another for any other topic? The idea of the state writing a law that they themselves can’t enforce under that law is stupid.

Pretty sure this would have been the case in the previous election regardless of the candidate no?
Nah -- it was time. Better to get out of basketball purgatory of being too good to get any decent draft picks but not good enough to actually win anything. Hopefully the tear down is only just beginning and they get rid of Tucker, Gordon, or whomever else they can move.

The problem is when they don’t settle in to a style of play and end up doing too much. It’s the playoffs... there’s no reason Humphrey should see the field. Kamara shouldn’t be off the field in a 3rd down passing situation.

Payton needs to stop outsmarting himself in big games.
So have you just not read any of the details on why it's thought to be Russia? A global effort that seems to effect most countries... but not Russia. Techniques similar to other Russian attacks.

Russia isn't just a scapegoat... sometimes they really are the boogeymen.

The Saints are still the 3rd team in the pecking order here after the Cowboys, but part of it just luck of scheduling (unless the NFL has quietly done it intentionally).

They've managed to avoid overlapping time slots with those other 2 teams for the most part this year on Sundays, in addition to the Game of the Week / primetime games.
Yep -- and they were lying about it then too. Short of a Constitutional convention, I'm pretty sure we're stuck as we are though. We definitely need Congressional term limits and campaign finance reform.
Unfortunately the people with the power to change it are those that benefit from it and have no incentive to do so...
Lol -- yeah, I skimmed this thread too quickly the first time through and missed that. My sarcasm meter is slightly impaired by Macallan at the moment.
Where has he been that would be considered being a "working man"? Pretty sure he doesn't know what being in lower-to-middle income brackets--working his arse off to get by--looks like.
I'd be real curious as to how you all would imagine how breaking up any of these companies would work.
Neither political leaning has a monopoly on doing terrible things (both by followers and elected officials), as much as people like to pretend.

Extremism (and this race by both to those extremes) is bound to continue to make things worse by giving those on the fringe more and more of a push with every passing day.

That's all Williams forgetting the situation.
Everyone doing political commentary make things fit their narrative -- neither liberals or conservatives have a monopoly on that.

Hell, the Fox News link (and OP's commentary) in this post is doing exactly that, since that part of the interview talks about confirmation bias and the impacts of social media algorithms' tendency to surface only those ideas and beliefs that are like our own. No one called anyone "deplorable" or was derogatory toward anyone else (although the liberal audience had their own opinions, I'm sure).

Eh, I think part of that is just from being used to having someone else / some computer software do taxes. You don't need to know if you're just given the answer. Also, as you mention, the complexity makes it a bit daunting for the novice to want to learn it.

Didn't think that scenario through all the way -- but no, don't there would be anywhere that you'd be pay more if itemization doesn't come into play.

Depends on the income level of the single parent in this scenario, but with the lowered rates they could still have a net reduction in taxes. Would need that last bit of info to determine it though.
I don't get the "superteam" accusations -- the only difference is that now it's players putting it together through their own decisions and actions instead of management. Any sustained success has relied on having several great players and coaches.
If Durant consistently provides this level of defense to go with his offense, I'd say he could definitely be the best player in the NBA, but no one's going to appreciate him since he's not carrying his team on his back to championships by himself with no other all stars on his team year after year anyway.
If LeBron averaged the same stats as Jordan's best finals year... the Cavs would still have lost all 3 games so far.
I think the other GOATs had players on their team with enough basketball sense and better coaches that would have made sure that didn't happen...

Bringing up the fact that a representative of the President is making up false claims to support a point is a "mediocre gotcha"? That's a pretty dumb thing to say. No matter what, leadership should be kept honest, regardless of which party / point of view you may support.

And yes -- what actually did occur in Bowling Green did justify the Obama administration going back in and fixing that particular hole in their vetting process across the 6 months or so that refugee processing stopped. But does that justify stopping those who have legal residence in the U.S. from coming back to their own homes (which is my primary issue with the whole thing, not just temporarily stopping newcomers)?

re: Peterson Blitzing

Posted by nickg0205 on 9/5/10 at 7:53 am to
I don't think Peterson blitzing is so bad, but I would much rather him be out in coverage when the offense is down by a lot and has the throw the ball. I think Mathieu showed that we have other fast defensive backs who can run a blitz.

I agree with H.
For passing, I think that it can be too crowded in the endzone, because you're also drawing too many defenders into the same space.

I agree that 4 WR and a back would be better. Same number of receiving options, but with the back coming out of the backfield, you have a bit more space, and also have the option of a HB draw, or motioning him out for a QB draw.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the QB draw on short yardage with Jefferson though. He doesn't seem to be confident enough sometimes to just lower his shoulder when he needs to. That perception could just be more of a matter of his indecisiveness on the option though.
I think it would take Jarrett Lee coming into a game and playing horribly. Until then, people are going to be calling for JJ's head.

It seems like a lot of fans fail to acknowledge that JJ is basically in the same position that Jarrett Lee was in last year. Yes, the offense does tend to stall a bit more at times with Jefferson in the game, but better to stall than make ill-advised throw into coverage.

Personally, I don't get where all the desire for Jarrett Lee to play comes from. We can speculate, but no one can say for sure that he'll be key to unlocking the potential of the offense. Last time he was given that chance, he did a horrible job at it. Jefferson, in the same situation, didn't go out and play spectacularly, but he also didn't go out and lose games on his own.

If Lee does for some reason play and play well, I'll be glad to cheer for him, but JJ has still made big plays. It may take a while for him to go out and consistently beat the defense, but I'll take his growing pains over Jarrett Lee's.

re: I'm satisfied....

Posted by nickg0205 on 10/3/09 at 7:11 pm to
I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm satisfied, but I am definitely feeling more confident about the team, because of the earlier point about the will to win that the team is showing. That's something that didn't seem to be there last year. They may not be pretty, but a win in the SEC is a good win, no matter how you get it.

This is the same team that went 3-5 in the SEC last year, now starting 3-0 with 2 road wins. That sort of experience with winning will also help their confidence, which was really deflated last year after the blow out loss the Florida. I think it'll be an even bigger confidence boost that the game was won with a play on offense, since the offense has really struggled with putting teams away when given the opportunities. They'll need all of that confidence going up against the Gators next week. Hopefully they can keep it going.

I think that as long as they compete well with Florida, win or lose, this team will be able to beat the 8-4 predictions from the beginning of the year. We'll just have to see if they can capitalize and keep up the effort.
I think it was about half JJ, half O-line. JJ held that ball too long a few times, but the O-line also whiffed on blocks as well in both the passing game as well as the running game.

Hopefully the O-line is in better shape next week, because it'll be hard to consistently move the ball if their problems continue against Florida.
