from 1980-2001, usc was far more irrelevant than notre dame has benn in their down period

They were still were muched talked about even in those down years; just as will be the case for the next several. Just like Notre Dame, they might not be that good, but they will still be talked about ad nauseum.

not really. we still played a shitlod on tv when shula was the coach. we also had a top 10 team under him. what do you want to bet kiffykins doesn'y get a top 10 team in the next five years?

Saban hasn't won a game yet, and playing Hawaii is what teams on sanctions do.

But just like Alabama, good progams make it back to the top. I can't disagree that USC will struggle given the lack of scholarships over a three year period, but they will be back. When -now that is a different question?
