C.C. Sabathia allowed 1 hit over 8 innings today to improve to 19-5 on the season and leading the Yanks to their league-leading 84th victory. I guess the Cy Young is his to lose unless the voters listen to some dum-dums on here who want to give it to a 10 win pitcher

CC just wins games.

He's probably the only guy left with any shot to get to 300.

Yeah. Forgot about him.

Johan Santana might have had a shot too, but he picked the wrong New York team

CC will win it, but you gotta feel for Felix. He has horrendous run support which will likely cost him the Cy Young. Here's some stats for you...

Felix has made 20 consecutive starts pitching into at least the 7th inning. Had one start (6/8 at TEX) in which he did not record an out in the 7th inning, but still started the 7th. first time in club history in a single season that a pitcher has recorded 20 consecutive starts pitching into the 7th inning. During the 20-start stretch, Felix is 8-7 with a 1.81 ERA (31 ER, 154.1 IP) and recorded 148 strikeouts.

ETA: Also, he has a 1.43 ERA over his past 16 starts with only a 7-5 record.

Have they ever considered trading Ichiro for a group of top prospects to put around Felix?

Ichiro's rotting there and they arent winning with him. I doubt Felix will be as loyal as Ichiro when he has a shot to leave

155 wins at 29 years old
15 wins a year for next 10 years I doubt he even gets to 300

He can get 15 wins in a bad year

but will he pitch till he is almost 40 is a better question, plus Yankees could bottom out they would not be the first high payroll team to bottom out.

Nope. The guy who owns 49% of the team is the same guy that owns Nintendo and he is Japanese. No way he will have Ichiro traded.

Felix just signed a 5 year extension before the season started. They were lucky to get him then because he sure wouldn't sign anything right now.

Possible but not likely. They have many good young players in the organization.

C Buchholz has a better chance than Felix, I mean 15-5 with a 2.21 ERA although he has only pitched 146.2 innings.

David Price and CJ Wilson should also deserve consideration above CC as both are sporting sub 3.00 with each having 14+ wins on winning teams. Although if CC keeps pitching well and continues to lower his ERA then there is no reason he should not win, however to think wins are the only factor that matter (bayoubuster) is really foolish.

It's obvious you(tduecen) and I do not see eye to eye on this subject. I never said wins were the only factor but it is more important than ERA. Plus it's not like C.C.'s ERA is 5.00.If someone was within 2 or 3 wins of him maybe but you're talking up guys who are not even close to him.

Wins are probably one of, if not, the worst ways to judge pitchers.

They've both started 29 games. Felix has pitched 9 more innings.

Felix has:

Given up less hits
Less earned runs
Less walks
More strikeouts

Sorry, but wins do not trump that, it just doesn't. I wonder if the reason for the discrepancy in wins has anything to do with the Yankees scoring 292 more runs than Seattle this year, over 2 runs PER GAME, LOL.

You are wasting your time with this guy. He already stated in the CY Young thread that he thinks a pitcher with a 3.25 ERA is better than a pitcher with a 2.25 ERA if the pitcher with the 3.25 ERA has more wins.

for the most part true, but when a pitcher just won his 21st game in a row at home, that means something!
He's now tied with the Chairman of the Board.
