Why Isn't Chad Lavalais Considered an LSU Legend

and Glen Dorsey is? Dorsey was a great player and remained consistent throughout his career, but Chad had one hell of a dominant season in 03. He was unblockable and the anchor on that dominating line. Let's not forget he was also part of the bunch that led LSU's program back to national status.
Here's to both of em
. It just puzzles me that Lavalais goes unmentioned.

That line with Spears, Hill (R.I.P), and Lavalais =
ETA: Was Claude Wroten on that line too?

Damn right- They were the perfect example of how a defensive line could dictate a game and make the corners better.

It is also baffling to me how underappreciated Lavalais' 2003 season was, but I think part of the reason has to do with him not having as much pro potential as others, and because a lot of his crazy dominance in '03 was just due to him being so much older and stronger than everyone else on the field.

No Kyle Williams was the other D-Tackle. Claude Wroten came the next year.

Crazy how the next year our defensive line was just as good the next couple years with kyle williams and claude wroten... Nothing to do with lavalais... But the talent we sustained was unbelievable... Chad was a beast along with everybody on that line in 03

The corners were great in the big games in 2003, which facilitated these beast to attack. It was a great symbiotic relationship.

I've always been a huge Lavalais fan. He was the heart and soul of that DL and was always firing up the team/fans.

Well, Lavalais is an LSU legend to me. He is one of my favorite Tigers of all time. You are right, he was dominant during that 2003 year. The play I always think of is when he knocked the center back into Eli Manning against Ole Miss to seal the deal in Oxford.
I think that Dorsey's popularity had a lot to do with how great Lavalais and Wroten were. Year after year, LSU had these beast DTs and the national media finally caught on, and Dorsey really was the beneficiary and got loads of attention.
Chad Lavalais - 202 tackles, 32.5 tfl, 11 sacks
Claude Wroten - 93 tackles,22.5 tfl, 12 sacks
Glenn Dorsey - 179 tackles, 27 tfl, 13 sacks
And remember, Wroten was a JC transfer. Only played 2 years.

4 and 1 in the Auburn game. Dorsey never looked as dominant as Chad did in that play.
