So I see a couple of yal have found your way over here and I have a quick question for ya. How are yal's special teams?

I think both offensive-defensive matchups are basically draws but this is where LSU typically has substantial advantages over opponents. Will that be the case in this game?

-I've heard the kicker isn't overly reliable? True/False?
-Was Little yal's main PR man? If he doesn't play, who takes his spot?
-How are the coverage units?

TIA! O and would one of you mind giving Quinn the flu around a week from today? He's probably my favorite non-LSU player and I'm gonna hate watching him play against us

They're more than fine on ST. The difference is that their offense is worse than ours on a whole, especially without Little. That WR corps is pathetic.

You have no clue what you're talking about. I'd make the argument that Boyd has as much potential as any WR on our team not named Randle (yes that includes Shep). He's as good as they come and he is exponentially more pollished at this point in his career compared to Shep.

Our special teams are good, but not great. I don't see us giving up the big play there.

Our kicker (Casey Barth) is extremely reliable inside of 40 yards or so. Outside of that he's really unreliable.

Little shared the job with Johnny White. Here's a little more on him and his career if you wish to read it: LINK

Coverage is good. They're fast and tackle very well.

We're already gonna be playing you guys without Marvin Austin so beggars can't be choosers :)

Our kicker (Casey barth) is very accurate but does not have a huge leg. Very good from 45 and in but outside 45 very shakey. This game is inside though which should give him a few more yards Id think.

We have a new guy for kickoffs who can supposedly get a good foot on it. Kicker mentioned above was a kickoff liability.

Little has moon lighted as a return guy at times but is not much of one so no loss there. We do not have a return beast. Burney (DB) and Searcy (SS) retunred punts last year. Little and White returned kicks but hardly did anything with them.

Coverage has been very spotty at times but has improved last year. We got back two of our primary gunners who were both injured last year which should help big time. Ryan Taylor and Matt Merletti.

I suspect LSU will have a special teams advantage

Sorry you couldn't understand my posts. I'll try to simplify it more next time. Lemme know anytime you wanna talk defensive strategy on a kindergarden level.

We have plenty fo talent at WR just much if its is still green. Boyd could be all world as could Dwight Jones if the light ever comes on. Highsmith is a gritty posession guy who finds ways to get open. Our TE Pianalto is probably the biggest threat though. You will hear his name a lot on 9/4.

Dude, take it down a notch...

It's a message board - people are going to type out their opinions.

And, if you posted this thinking that only UNC people were going to respond, well, that was a fatal flaw.

I wanted LSU to get him so bad when he came out. He didn't get senior film out until about a month before NSD and it was a mad race for his signature. First it seemed like LSU would get him, then Clemson and then UNC locked him up.

He's got as good a combination of size and leaping ability as any WR in the nation. How has his speed and route running come along? I was always worried if he'd be able to get separation in college and I guess that seems to be the case or is it a lack of work ethic or what?

All the physical tools are there. He just has rocks in his head and cant seem to figure it out or act like he cares to. I have little faith in him becoming anything special. He is a JR now so its def now or never.

Also, how's Rashad Mason looking? He's another guy who looked like he was gonna be able to jump-ball people all day long and gave LSU a pretty long look before signing with UNC. Is he even still in the program? I haven't heard a thing about him since he signed. TIA!

UNC seemed to have some success blocking punts in at least one game last year ... I think with Bruce Carter?

just watched CSS and they said Searcy (N.C.) is one of the best returners in the country.

Searcy is not a good returner. Rashad Mason was a complete bust. Still on team I but may as well not be.
