PART TWO:
Auburn fan proclaims LSU fans smell like corndogs, It's an obvious case of plagiarism. If an opponent has the same mascot as you (see: Auburn Tigers and LSU Tigers) you can't really make fun of tigers. What's an unimaginative Auburn fan to do? Steal some random insult from other passionate college football fanbase.

Actually it was a Georgia fan that first applied it to the Tigers in 2003. After LSU kicked their asses twice, they dropped it. It was in 2004 that an Auburn fan adopted it after seeing it on a UGA board, and then it stuck after Auburn beat LSU in 2004.

If LSU had won that damn "Extra Point Game" we probably never would've heard it again.

It's the weakest name used against us for the very reason you are asking about it. It doesn't apply and people don't understand it. When you come to an LSU game all you see and smell is cajun food and alcohol. And yes, Bama Fans started it so there you are.

Kinda pisses me off that we have this "corn dog" reputation and I'll be damned if I can find a corn dog anywhere in Tiger Stadium... I <3 corn dogs.

Jesus, you can't be serious. You think corndogs started in 2003?

the thing is, you have to get on this board after the game. Win or lose to show sportsmanship

This may be the only time this year we can say this.

This is close.

The term corndogs was geared towards LSU becuase of the smell in the air at LSU tailgates on gameday.

In south Louisiana, we deep fry everything. Especially on Gameday. In otehr parts of the region, and country (especially midwest - Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska) they deep fry alopt at state fairs. So, they relate the smell of things deep frying to state fairs, corndogs, funnel cakes etc.

At LSU tailgates you'll see deep-fried fish, meat pies, crawfish pies, alligator, boudin balls, turkeys etc etc etc. So, the term corndogs was applied to LSU because of the smell in the air for people who relate that smell to corndogs.

We really have no idea what to expect this year. We could easily be 6-6 or 10-2. Tough schedule this year with lots of question marks at key positions. The UNC game should tell us what we need to know. Welcome to the rant!

fwiw, this is basically the same defense that McNeese had against the ropes 2 years ago and was withing striking distance to win that game (fricking Brandon Tate). I'm still not convinced just because there's Preseason All-Americans listed.

McNeese with 391 totals yards

Defense: edge UNC

Not trying to be a smartass honestly, but you are fixing to find out what SEC Football is all about. Ask Va. Tech or Ga. Tech about LSU football..........Also, you are going to be very shocked by our defense....you have hype for your defense...but LSU is going to be VERY FAST and VERY GOOD on D. Look for the LSU Offense to be MUCH IMPROVED from last year. Too many jobs on the line to hold down all those 5 star playmakers.....Honest Opinon...I see this one getting away from you and see special teams opening this one up to somewhere around a 31-10 ballgame......as I said...just ask Va. Tech and Ga. Tech fans....

Solid point.

They will be a good defense no doubt, but I dont think they will be equal to Bama or Fl.

I may equate them to VT, didnt they have quite a few preseason All Americans?

That's my theory. Its the only a culinarily retarded Auburn redneck can relate the smell to.
