I have a function tomorrow night downtown so we are going to Stroube's for an early dinner prior.
I have to say I've never been so please enlighten me.
Oh and first before the food...how's the bar?

I really enjoyed the short rib appetizer.

The seared Tuna App with the Blood Orange sauce is pretty awesome. Then again the only way to mess up seared tuna is to oversear it.

Ok we went and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. Nice bar.
We had the seared fois gras appetizer, the spring rolls appetizer and my wife and I split the prime NY Strip with a side asparagus and white truffle risotto. Really good and both other couples split entrees as well. The waiter said the chef asked if we wanted him to plate the entrees in lieu of just giving us extra plates. Very nice. Food was good.
We had two bottles of King's Estate and a bottle of a Swartzenburg that I don't recall the name.
We will return. Not really expensive although we did split an entree. But it really was a large steak so splitting it was still almost too much food.

I cant recall anything specific on the bar menu, but i remember being impressed with it. The impression i got when reading it is that it wasnt an after thought. someone really thought about it. I liked that they showcased louisiana products (more than just the usual abita beer if i recall correctly).
we did wine & i tried some of the infused vodkas, which were super sweet.
I am not really a fan of fois gras, but when i got the duck, a tiny morsel of the seared fois gras (they have that as an app) was a garnish on the plate.
it is probably the best bite of food i have eaten in baton rouge. but, i dont get around like you do, martini.
hope you enjoy. please post your experience. im interested to see your impression of the place.
ETA: maybe i should read the whole thread before commenting. Glad you enjoyed it

just now seeing this thread went earlier this year and had the lamb lollipops which were outstanding, I ordered the duck with the soup of the day which I forgot what it was now, duck cooked perfect nice seared skin and a light pink on the inside, my girl had the steak with some sort of toping, steak cooked to perfection .....only bad part of the meal was the spinach tasted a lot like the frozen creamed spinach you can get at walmart no taste at all and came out very very cold but that wont stop me from going back enjoyed the bar area very much

hey douchebag, can you add your review to the Guide?
You know, I earned the honorary title of douchebag on a recent review of mine, but my review for some reason didn't get accepted on the Guide.
