That is my guess and I'm sticking to it. I know he's probably not a starter, but I see him doing damage when he's in.

Is this just a guess, or from what you've read/seen/heard?

Not bashing, just curious

is he? If so then I my guess becomes more likely.

And for the previous poster:
In the videos I have watched of practice and the spring game I see the quickest first step (save Mingo) on our DL. His hands and arms look to be shedding blocks VERY well and he has the size to push the line back. Most important to my educated guess is the personality and attitude people say he has. Supposedly he is a little crazy. Quirky and extremely competitive and aggressive.

No offense, but that's not too bold of a guess.

That's who I see getting the most sacks.

I wouldn't be surprised, but he should have some competition. Mingo is going to be a stud to compete against, and I've heard some great things on Adams. One thing for sure, DE's will be studs for the next 3 years. Now lets get that middle clogged up.

If Montgomery is good against the run then I'm fine with him starting. If not, then I think it should be Adams and Edward/Aghayere starting with Mingo and Montgomery coming in on 3rd/7+ situations.

I agree. And it is on those 3rd and 7 type situations that I am expecting Monty to do well. He seems to contain better than Alem (not hard to do).

Did you just come out of a coma? He's been running with the 1's and he's got 4.5 speed. Good chance you're right.

He's running with the 1's, but there is a chance he won't start. There are several good options to take as far as end-season sack total leader.

Now I remember why I hate the rant. I'll be back again after my usual 3 week break.

Doubt that. Also doubt we will have a "starter". But if the first game was tonight i would bet montgomery at re and adams at le on our first defensive play. But yes that can all change over the course of the year.

Adams will lead us IMO!

I also hope we're bringing in Brockers in obvious passing situations. He's a DT who used to be a DE and is our must natural pass-rusher from the DT position. He's gonna play alot, but he needs to be in on every obvious passing down.

Brockers is built like the Incredible Hulk. I have high hopes for him.

Good to hear that Montgomery has a crazy streak. Something about that "rabid dog" d lineman that makes me feel good.

I know and am aware of each of the new players and the returning players that we have and my take on it is that it is not going to be dependant upon any one player to make the plays I believe that it is going to take them all to make LSU's Defense great.

LSU is in it's first true Miles recuiting players impact upon the team and this is the year that is going to be the year that sets up LSU for the next number of years into the future. Especially after next years recruiting class makes it's presence felt.

So it will be all of them to make the difference in our resurgence. With all the young talent it will be one player this week and another player the next week that way when one has an off game there will be someone there to pick up the slack and that is what a great team needs to make it great and keep it on top.

Now they talk about Fla and Bama and Texas reloading I feel after this year it will be LSU also in the mix of reloading.

I SAY!

The funny thing is that Montgomery actually didn't have that streak in high school. I live in SC and NO ONE ever questioned his physical abilities, but many questioned if he had the drive or not. He was always a big talker and sometimes his play wasn't on the same level.

When he spurned the home schools and went to LSU, he got absolutely hammered by the locals. It's probably because he was so cocky and did such outlandish interviews but they lashed out on him as bad if not worse than LSU fans on McKnight.

I really think Sam has used all that as motivation. He's absolutely devoted his entire life to working his arse off and becoming a monster. Proving everyone back home wrong is at the forefront of his mind IMO. I'm glad he's on our side haha!

If talking about montgomery you are rt. He was quoted in an article saying haley calls him a clown. He just runs around with his arms flailing like a mad man.
