Matt Mascona\'s reports from today\'s practice was accurate. He said he saw more coaching at the WR position in one practice than he saw total in the 4 years he has been covering the practices.

He said the QBs were on que with the WRs, Billy Gonzales was in the middle of the routes, hands on type coach, he is intense, etc. I think our O-line will be better (not sure how much better.. but better). With an improved offense, I think we will see the D\'s true colors and if it pans out I think we will shock the SEC this year.. Not saying it WILL happen, but I feel better about it today than I did after the Spring.

Sounds like more first practice fluff.

We have more conference wins than Mississippi, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Auburn and Alabama.

We need him to bring that intensity to the entire offense.

The Crowton no-cursing policy is fricking bullshite.

Is it that bold? I mean can they get worse than last year?

I, too, am feeling more positive. I think the team will look sharper, regardless of record. It could still be a challenging year, of course. Pretty much every team in the West seems to have some positive momentum coming out of last year (Auburn, Arkansas, Miss. St., and even Ole Miss w/ the pick up of Masoli). And Bama will still be tough. So, it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

I was think about this a lot this week and I think the key number is 4.5.

2009: Alabama - 5.0 yards per rush
2008: Alabama - 4.6 yards per rush
2007: LSU - 4.9 yards per rush
2006: Arkansas - 5.9 yards per rush
2005: LSU - 3.8 yards per rush
2004: Auburn - 4.5 yards per rush
2003: LSU - 4.6 yards per rush

Since 2003, only one team (LSU 2005) has won the West while rushing for less than 4.5 yards per carry.

If we average 4.5 yards/rush this season, we'll compete for the West. If we average less, there is no way we win the West.

Did anyone just see the WAFB report? Jefferson looks more confident behind the mic and sounds more confident. If that translates over to game day things might just be alright around here when Fall comes around.
