Do you think it was done intentionally?
it was done out of stupidity. a recurring theme under les
this situation could have been easily avoided with some intelligence, planning, and forethought

So, now you are mixing the legal ramifications with NCAA rules?
they go hand in hand

Are you making a legal argument or simply a logical one?
both

Yes.
so right now he has the benefits of LSU paying for his tuition, his room/board, his meal plan, his tutoring, his coaching, his medical care, his training, etc?

1. before NSD, miles never brought up a greyshirt possibility.
I love how you all know this for FACT. Gotta love the insiders on this site.

When you sign on the dotted line, you very likely might be agreeing that you realize the possibility of the team releasing you at any moment.
scholarships are 1-year contracts. there isn't this fine print or schools would get in serious trouble

but I would have to think terms like this are in black and white on the document.
they're not, which is why porter was so shocked

Not really. As of this minute, have you ever read an NCAA LOI?

porter said that, so unless you have a better source..

Are you suggesting that the LOI is the same entity as a scholarship contract?

"Right now?"
he signed with LSU for the 2010-2011 season

This is a greyshirt discussion.
no it is a discussion on a scholarship player who had his scholarship offer withdrawn a month before the season started

no a LOI binds the player to a school. it's a formal contract
porter signed his contract after being told he'd have a scholarship for the 2010-2011 season

It's a greyshirt discussion because of what Les and staff did.
Porter was not some fringe player he could have gone elsewhere.
When comparing LSU vs other schools you don't think starting in August at Florida St. or Neb. isn't a benefit/advantage when compared to starting at LSU in Jan??

do you agree that he had his scholarship offer for the 2010-11 season pulled?

you can't move it
a scholarship for the 2010-2011 season exists once in reality
porter had this scholarship promised to him until monday
now LSU says he doesn't have this scholarship

ALL scholarships are renewed every year, FACT. He has no scholarship for 2010-2011. He may get another offer for 2011-2012, but that 2010 is gone, pulled, not moved

Porter himself has given reason to question this. He said that previously he told Miles that if he was forced to take a grey shirt he would quit. This indicates that it was discussed. What was actually said and or perceived to be said is all speculation at this point.
