We were averaging in the 40K area during the late 70s and early 80s, and that was at the Dome. Winning combined with good scheduling does that.

this is a correct statement between 30 and 40 k..

there was a usl game in 74 or 75 with much more red and white than olive and blue.

"It's retarded on so many levels, not the least of them being the racist aspect of it."

Here we go, one of the resident little bleeding hearts spewing out the "Racist" label. NOTHING racist about the statement. More like crude REALITY than anything. (Regardless of whether or not you or any of the other bleeders like it or agree with it).....

No-you weren't.
Lying about toolame attendance has become the refuge of cowards. The stadium was shitty & so was the team. Maybe 5000. It's the same "attendance math" toolame uses now-20,000 says the paper & tv...reality says 2000-3000...when a good team is in town.

5000? Seriously? In Tulane Stadium, in the 70s? You're really going to attach your e-cred to that statement?

Do you have problems with mathematics?

No-I have problems with toolame "fans" always lying about attendance. Deal with it.

Regarding attendance, why are message board people so obsessed with these things? For what it's worth, the only attendance number that truly matters in the grand scheme of things is tickets sold. I couldn't care less if 5,000 or 50,000 people had their butts in the seats, but I certainly do care about how much revenue was generated by the number of tickets sold. Most attendance figures list the number of tickets sold for that very reason.

were you at the games? In 71 or so when Tulane broke a 25 year long losing streak, you could barely hear anything. By the mid 80's LSU fans began to far outnumber TU fans

There's not enough lipstick in the world to make that pig of a statement look good.

No one is saying LSU fans outnumbered TU fans in the NOLA area. Tulane had a lot of season ticket holders in the day. The game was on campus and the rivalary was truly top 10. Those from the day wil tell you how heated it was. And yes, even LSU got way up for the game. Not sure why this is unbelievable.

Funny thing is, you are not even old enough to remember any of it, much less comment on it.

When I was a kid in the early 70's, my uncle brought me to many a Tulane game and the stands were fairly crowded. I was actually more of a fan of theirs. What a fun place to watch a game. Yeah the stands were old, but that place had so much f'n character. I even went to a Saints game there when they played the 49'ers. It was a GREAT stadium. When they tore it down, I went to a few Tulane games in The Dome, and it completely lost the lustre. After that, when I was in high school, I completely switched to LSU as my favorite team/school and went there. Tulane Stadium was every bit as good as Death Valley with a big city reputation. Hence the Super Bowls it hosted. As much as I now hate Tulane, I can't hate that place because of the memories.

It's unbelievable because I was there. I was born in and grew up in New Orleans. It's my home town.

At no time did Tulane fans outnumber LSU fans in NOLA. Period, end of discussion. Not in the city, not in the area, not in the stands. Nowhere.

In fact, NOLA-area families with money did not as a rule send their children to Tulane. TU was like the third or fourth option. I had many friends who went to Ole Miss or Alabama because of the Greek life there. There's less of that going on now, but back then, it was fairly common among the monied set.

Someone hasn't checked my profile. I was born in the Army hospital of Camp Leroy Johnson, which was torn down to make room for the site of the present UNO campus.

Once again, you not only don't know what you are talking about, but your hatred of LSU has either blinded you to the fact, or led you to make up stories which blatantly aren't true.
