A QB coach that could develop QBs.

But, alas. Rushing the field against Alabama is the same as sending the University this letter:

quote:

Dear Alabama,

You're a superior program.

Sincerely,

LSU

ACtually we are being named 4th in the SEC West... Not quite a dark horse for the national championship. But I can see how you would want leave that out.

No, I've noticed. I'm just not wild about the fanbase conceding the point.

Rushing the field is an escaliting fine for each occurance and it carries over to basketball season. Kentucky paid about $1,000,000 in fines a few years back when they had some football upsets and big basketball wins.

This is an SEC rule. I'm not sure how much the fine is after the first two rushes, but the first offense for letting fans rush the field is $25,000. The second is $50,000.

If I'm going to make LSU pay that kind of money for me to have 10 minutes on the field, then we better beat #1 USC when we have not been to a bowl game in the past 3 years.

I honestly can not believe some of you are entertaining this idea. I realize you want to have fun and celebrate a big win, but you can't have it both ways.

As other posters have said before you have to act like you've been there. Did Auburn rush the field in 07 when they beat UF at home? No, that win was HUGE for them.

The Rant has despised our mediocrity the past two years, but now you want to embrace it and celebrate it by rushing the field?

Not worried at all...I did not want to get the reply mixed up with the wrong person. You are still childish and more than a bit effeminate.

I hope that no one thinks I am advocating multiple rushes in a single year. I am not. I am not even saying that we ought to rush the field once very year. I think rushing the field is reserved for a special case only. UR LSU beating No. 10 Tennessee in triple overtime in 2000 was a good example. If the win is workmanlike and unspectacular, then no rush is warranted even if LSU is UR and the opponent is No. 1.

I'm looking at this comment and I'm thinking, is there a more established basketball program than Kentucky? Maybe Duke or UNC, and Kentucy is third. If they can rush the court without demeaning their basketball program, then I think it's acceptable for LSU to rush the field if the circumstances warrant a little extra celebration.

When was the last time you saw a legit team's fans rush the field?

2002

2006

To be fair...
Both victories sealed unbeaten regular seasons, a national championship spot and were against Michigan.

Wow, I forgot that one opinion envelopes an entire multitude of other opinions. As for the whole they are loads better than us, did you forget until two years ago, we were whipping their arse every year for like 5+ years? Ups and downs are common, but rushes are for when your program has been down for a while, we're talking not going to bowls, not "BUT IT WASN'T A TOP TIER" bowls. Saban lost most of his defense and UF lost Tebow, Haden, Spikes, Cunningham, and their leading WR last year. Its not like these teams are light years ahead of us. Hell we had zero offense last year and played with Bama til the end. I'm not a negatiger or a positiger or any other of those shite names, but when you rush the field, you tell the opposing team that you can't even be mentioned in the same sentence, which is pure garbage when you look at this team. We have as much talent as any other team in the country.

You can almost sell me on beating your arch rival in one of the most storied rivalries of the century to go to the National Championship. Its as close as I would get to rushing the field for a winner, but LSU doesn't have that sort of rivalry, and we also have an SEC championship game, and who wants to rush foreign soil?

Yeah, as of a year or two ago my aunt still had grass from the 02 field after the UM game(still alive).
I stole some in 06, but it died pretty shorty after. I guess you can't leave it in the baggy and expect it to live.

What happened to those fans? I miss that type of attitude. There are those who would say that "we are beyond that", which means our expectations have changed. The higher expectations are a good thing, but also bad.

When you rush the field you are telling your team you didn't expect them to win that game

LSU should be at the point that they expect to win their games... LSU fans should rush the field if they win the SEC or NC this year - not for some random win along the way
