just wondering as they quit calling holding on bama halfway trough the kentucky game. 8 1/2 games seems mighty strange to not have a singe holding call go against any team.

Not Bama, unless the game is already won by Bama. The sEC is rigged for Bama. (See LSU interception last year.)

SEC refs know Saban's teams are disciplined on the field.

Losers will many times blame the Refs and sometimes they [refs] miss calls. winners hardly ever credit the refs when they win. In Tiger stadium at the LSU vs Gmps game in 08 wasn't a TD or two called back that he Gumps made because of penalties? Could holding calls or lack of be attributed to good/bad coaching? Seems like the Tigers get called a lot for false starts etc---could that be coaching? When the Tigers were winning big not much was said about penalties or the lack of---isn't all the whining about penalties a little childish?

just off the the top of your head, can you name just 1 college football team besides bama '09 to have zero holding calls in 8 games or more?

I would be interested in seeing clips of both the Gump team and the tigers where holding was obvious, but was not called. Which team had the most uncalled penalties. I'm not computer savvy but I will be watching for input from both sides. I just get tired of the refs causing so many losses [and they do make bad calls occasionally]. I would like to see every play reviewed where a TD is called back because of a penalty--unfortunately it will not ever happen.

Not sure what the definition of "let the players play" is.

The only change to blocking rules of any significance was back in '85-'86; known as the "retreat" block. It addressed pass blocking; since Nebraska was a running team it had little or no impact on their game.

Me too. If it's there, I'd love to see it. One of the problems in the discussion is whether it's actually holding. "Holding can be called on every play" is a misnomer. A lot of fans scream "HE HELD" when in fact it wasn't a foul.

Anyway, if anyone has video that shows missed holding calls, please post it.

Just watch any of the games. There were plenty that could/should have been called. No need to fricking post videos.

One reason most people are oblivious to these missed calls is they don't watch OL play. No OL running the ball that much is going to have no holding penalties. No OL could realistically accomplish that.

ROTFL... Arrakis, you could be shown a picture of a thief pulling a wallet out of his target's pants with the wallet halfway out, and you would argue that it shows nothing. Were you on Clinton's impeachment defense team?

No, of course not. Why would SEC refs suddenly start calling games fairly? And 8+ games without a holding penalty isn't that strange when SEC refs are involved. LSU opponents went that many games without a holding penalty in 2007.

In fairness, the refs in the LSU-Bama game didn't call holding on anybody. So, even though they sucked, they sucked evenly. By the fourth quarter of that game, I just accepted that holding was no longer a penalty.

It has been said that there is holding on every play. To go 8+ games without a holding penalty is impossible. very strange.

Our combined opponents in our games with them were penalized less than the least penalized team in the country that season.
