Should result in the goal counting. PERIOD.

That shite is retarded.

That was as ridiculous as if we were watching an NBA game and as the game winning shot was about to enter the basket, a defender shoved his hand up thru the net to stop it.

Then, we make the guy shoot free throws!

Pahfrickinlease.

Comparing a penalty kick to a free throw is like comparing an extra point to a 50 yard field goal.

It's ridiculous. shite. If that's the rule, then defenders should handball EVERYTHING that is on goal that the keeper can't get.

Yeah, a PK is usually a gimme but when defending, usually beats certainty every time.

The quarterback throws it in the endzone with 1 second left and the cornerback tackles the WR. Clear pass interference. They get the ball at the one and they can stuff it in the endzone.

Same shite. Sorry.

You do realize the guy got a red card and has to sit out the next game right?? If people did that everytime they'd be playing with 7 men and if they got another red they would forfeit...

it does also result in the team playing a man down for the rest of the game, but that shite was unreal blatant

Nah. The WR might drop the ball. It happens all the time.

Never seen a ball heading to the middle of the net suddenly fly over the goal on its own though.

All this WC has done is confirmed how godawful this sport is.

True enough.

So, they should simply handball EVERYTHING that has a chance to score in the final minutes.

People upset over this are retarded. Ghana had an easy PK and couldn't even put it on target. Nobodies fault but Gyan. If you can't convert a PK you don't deserve the goal. Something like 85 percent of PKs on goal are successful.

The reason people don't do this all the time is that in any other situation but what happened today it would again be retarded. Go a man down and likely give up a goal. And it's rare to even be in the situation to do it if you wanted to. Not the big deal some are making it to be.

Ok, so in basketball a guy is on a fast break with 3 seconds left. A defender tackles him so he cant make the lay up. Theyre one or two points down and the guy cant hit the free throws. You could say thats strategy...but if you say that then so was the handball.

The difference is that the guy who made the handball got ejected and cant play in the next game, where the guy who fouled the person is continuing to play.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

It's great for 8-year-olds with too much energy, but it doesn't translate professionally.

This would be similar to a soccer defender fouling a striker inside the box BEFORE he gets the kick off.

What this guy did was the equivalent of the dude in basketball getting the shot off and then having it goal tended.

No, I do. The difference is that I don't go on forum dedicated to that which I think sucks, and profess what I think is wrong with it. Get a life, dude.

Haha jesus, excuse after excuse. Actually thats not the case because the goalie could still stop it. In basketball a dunk on a fast break is essentially automatic.

The case is this...the defender made an infraction to cause the point to be scored. In both sports, there is a chance to score the point through a pk/free throw. The difference is in soccer you get ejected, you DO NOT in basketball. If anything basketball is less fair than soccer...

You do not understand the difference between a probable goal and a certain goal.
