I heard the tail end of a blurb on the radio that said that UL was leaving the SunBelt Conference and was moving down to Division III. Anybody heard this? Which "UL" is it?

Yeah, already knew that. That part was announced a couple months back. But this was a new announcement within the last couple of days. Definitely said "UL"...was hoping for USL..err ULL or whatever they called themselves this year.

ULL, ULM, Tech, North Texas, Arky State, all of the old Southland Conferance schools need to drop back down to today's equivalant to 1AA. and start playing each other again instead of being fodder for BCS schools.

The Southland is Division 1-AA. The blurb on the radio said Division III. Which obviously means no football, and no scholarships for any of the other sports. Same thing that UNO is doing (though they already didn't have a football team).

Pretty sure that radio announcement had it wrong and meant UNO. I heard it too and wonder what had happened.

Oh, and just for the record, as a USL Alum I would also vote to move down a level.....Not, however, all the way to D-III.

Div III has football

I cannot imagine ULL going to that level. It doesn't make sense unless they are flat broke.

I bet they make more money losing to the big boys than winning in IAA.

Okay. My mistake. It had slipped my mind this morning when I posted that other post this morning. Must have been a brain fart, because all of a sudden I can think of many D-III football teams. Duh! Sorry guys.

But I am certain that they said UL. Problably meant UL-Monroe because they are pretty broken. Though I know the NCAA was threatening to force ULL to move to D 1-AA because of poor attendance.

Hey twiddle dick did you see the posts were I said I was mistaken this morning. As soon as I came back to the thread and re-read what I posted, Mount Union is one of about a dozen schools that popped into my mind.

If you would like to try again to be a successful smart arse, then please feel free to stroll on over to the Rant. Good luck.
