Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain, Lio Messi, and Mesut Ozil have to be in the conversation no?

I would probably have to say Ozil as well.
By the way is he really German or immigrated from somewhere?

10/23 players on the German team don't have German parents but 9 of those 10 pretty much grew up in Germany.
The only player selected that I have a problem with is Cacau.

Mesut, Honda, and Forlan.

Ozil or Suarez. After today's game I give the edge to Ozil, I just love the way he plays football, if he were an assassin he'd be the best assassin, no one ever sees him coming, he just drifts perfectly to where he needs to be. Messi has been great but he needs a goal.

Soccer fans "in the know" already had an idea of how good Ozil was, but for the casual fan, this has been his coming out party.

Is Boateng the one who didn't grow up in Germany?
Is Ozil Turkish or something, I just can't put an ethnicity to his face...

Messi has been my favorite player for years, but Ozil has gained a ton of ground and is really close to overtaking his spot. Love watching this kid play and his understanding of the game and playmaking abilities. Pure genius.

Yeah, his parents are from Turkey. He turned down a chance for the national team
Dude looks like he definitely has some Tatar blood though.
Boateng was born and raised in Germany, just like his half brother who scored against the US yesteday. Cacau is the one with no connection to Germany, just like Senna with Spain, Aurelio with Turkey, Liedson, Deco, and Pepe for Portugal.
