And soccer fans wonder why others think the sport is a joke. In a sport where goals are so hard to comeby, to not be able to get the calls right when it is so obvious is crazy.

The sport is in no way a joke because they won't use instant replay. That's one of the dumber statements i've ever seen made on this board.

Is MLB a joke? Just because FIFA is a bunch of stubborn fricks, it does not mean that Soccer is a joke!

I can understand why they wouldn't want to use it on penalties and such, but goals are so important that I can't understand not using a replay system on the goal line. It would only take a second

FIFA protects the powerhouses more than the NBA does. It's getting pretty out of hand. I realize "England" is a powerhouse, but the smaller teams for the most part always get screwed over on questionable calls.

Soccer and figure skating plagued by the same problem. Nationality plays an important part in judging in skating and calls (or lack of calls) in soccer.

Yup, those blown calls in favor of powerhouses Slovenia and South Korea sure solidified your point.

I'm a fan of technology in almost every other sport but instant replay and that shite would detract from the game.

Add another ref or do more training or something, but keep the technology out.

I wouldn't mind if they instituted it for plays that lead up or would have led up to a goal. It doesn't take much to have a a few people up in a booth reviewing the calls. If the fans are able to see it within 15 secs of it happening via replay, people in a booth should be able to do the same, it shouldn't hinder the progress dramatically.

I could definitely go for a second ref.

If people don't want technology because of tradition, I can respect that. However, if anyone says anything about it slowing down the game, I am going to . It is ok, if someone fakes an injury for 5 minutes, but it is not ok to check to see if the ball crossed the line for 15 secs?

The MLB uses replay on homeruns. Soccer using it for goals would be just about the equivalent. I don't get the comparison you're making.
