since when?
if a kid from Catholic HS cannot get into LSU, then something is wrong. If his grades were that bad he wouldnt be allowed to play at CHS

From what I heard about Nola, he will not be eligible to be enrolled at LSU because of grades. That is probably why he is only "verbally" committed and not signed. It takes a 25 ACT to be eligible at LSU. Professional rating services take that into consideration and rank those kind of guys high because they don't have any alternative except to go professional. Those that are eligible to make it academically often are ranked much lower by the rating services... they are deemed not as signable.
you have no idea what youre talking about.

The qualifictions for athletes are diff than regular students arent they?
I know half the football team doesnt sport a 23 ACT. Also Im pretty sure its sliding scale. If your GPA is higher, you are allowed to get lower on the ACT and vice versa, at least that's what I always thought.

He has signed. What are you talking about? The thread is titled "commitment" because it was started nearly a year ago.

Get your facts straight before you deningrate a kid. Nola signed in November, has the grades, and has the ACT score. It's just a matter of how high he gets drafted at this point.

I know he is not a commitment anymore, but saw this on twitter today. Wouldn't that be some shite.

Yeah it is a strange situation. He is a sure fire first round pick. Baseball America speculates it could set the stage for huge bonus demands (he is a Boras client), but they also say his mom is a professor so education is important to them.

Apparently we have another signee not listed yet in this thread. Christian Trent from St Pauls. I've seen several articles about the LA Baseball All Star game reference him as an LSU signee.

He is also listed on Marucci's site. I wonder if he is actually a signee or more of an invited walk-on. Lazare on Tigerbait didn't have him listed and I believe he gets names directly from the staff.
ETA: Lazare also has two juco names that aren't mentioned here, but it was in a post on the premium board so I'm looking for an article or some other type of confirmation so scike doesn't get pissed about it being posted here.

Looks like Barrios will be coming over with 3 years of eligibility. That has definitely been a trend in Mainieri's JUCO recruits, a lot of them coming over as Sophs.

Yeah, it seems like with some of these guys he makes an agreement that he will bring them in when he has room on the roster. One of the newspaper articles I found on Barrios was a preview of one his football games his senior year and they mentioned him as an LSU baseball commitment. This would have been in the Fall of 2009.

So they are both shortstops? Was there ever any confirmation on the supposed juco first baseman.

Still nothing on the first baseman.
