OK, they'll have a nice new stadium that's slightly larger than some Texas HS's.

And lets be clear, the HS's will have consistently better attendance as well.

So that means that Texas would automatically win the B12 south every year and OU would do the same in the B12 north. How boring.

There are some Big East and ACC stadiums that are the same size.

Either way, I think they're making it to where they can expand it to 50,000.

Oriented well by Aggy. You have their talking points down very well. Did they mention why they refused to play UH for 15 years?

If they were making Big 12 TV money, they would have a new and/or bigger stadium. As it stands, 50k is about what 5 of the Big 12 can seat. When they played Texas or another big game it could be played at Jerry's place.

Why would UH play UT in Dallas?

I could see Houston upgrading. Maybe even TCU. I don't think SMU will ever be what it once was. The death penalty did what it was designed to do, which is probably why Alabama escaped it a few years back, and if anyone deserved it, they did.

I thought we were talking TCU. But the same holds for UH.....Reliant Stadium + TV $ and they would be set. In the Scheme of things, UH= Kansas football, Iowa St., Baylor,....Missouri in an average year.

Both TCU and Houston were in the SWC when that conference fell apart after Arkansas left and they were in Houston and Dallas than as well. How did that help than? Just like Baylor, TCU and Houston add NOTHING to any major conference.

They could and have in the past. Both programs were on probation when the SWC dissolved, which left them out of the Big 12 and stuck in weak conferences that further stunted recruiting and support by their alumni. Houston had a pretty strong program before then; Cotton Bowls (when they were important), Final Fours and a Heisman winner. TCU were an elite program in the first half of the 20th century. Obviously they sucked for the second half, but they've cleaned up their act. They keep pumping money into upgrading facilities and are nationally competitive, despite having a student enrollment of around 8,000. I don't know if it's fair to compare what was happening nearly 20 years ago to now when judging if these schools can offer anything to a major conference because they've proven that they can with the proper support.

Texas has to be giddy at the idea of playing TAMU, Baylor, Tech, TCU, and Houston every year. Some years they'll miss Oklahoma as well.
