CLIFF NOTES VERSION:

This guys is basically saying that the Big-10 and the Pac-10 have some big idea to take over the TV markets in the East and West coasts respectively. For some reason or another that wasn't really explained he thinks Texas is part of the conspiracy. According to "The Plan" Texas A&M could not join the SEC because the SEC can't expand out of the current SEC states. He goes on to incriminate ABC and ESPN who stand to gain from their TV contracts with the 2 conferences and are in on the cover-up because they aren't fully covering the expansion.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. But it was damn funny and there's no way this guy honestly believes this.

Completely forgetting that ESPN has a mega-contract of its own with the SEC. Not only do they broadcast a night-time SEC football game, they broadcast many SEC events (note that they broadcast the SEC Softball title game, not the Pac-10 title game notwithstanding that the Pac-10 is the dominant softball conference, and the semifinals and finals of the SEC baseball tournament).

If you can't believe that this is very possibly whats happening then your fooling yourself. I am not saying this is whats going on, but with the amounts of money that will involve this nothing would shock me.

I don't buy the parts about ABC and UT, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Delaney and the PAC-10 orchestrating this mess.

Is it true? I don't know... but he could actually be onto something there.

I'll guarantee that parts are true and parts aren't. I'll also guarantee that we'll never know for sure which is which. No point in worrying about it. The main thing is that a power play is going on, and the SEC is a big dog in the fight.

I dont see it as a conspiracy theory. Most of the stuff he says isn't new. He is just putting stuff that is know together to have a coherent story. If you dont believe the Pac 10 and Big 10 work together and are very jealous of the SEC your naive. They have been working hand and hand over the years to prevent a play off system. They work together on the Rose Bowl.

of course they'd like that

conspiracy is the wrong word - but clearly if they join either conference and get a healthy share of those profits then they would agree to that

Let me boil it down for you.

Conspiracy theorists (I love conspiracy theories) maintain that this was all a ploy hatched by the Big Ten, Pac 10 and Texas to break apart the Big XII.

The plan was for U. Texas to lock down the entire state and take it, along with its minion Oklahoma, to the PAC 10. Instead Texas A&M held fast and received an open ended invitation from the SEC this afternoon. Now the Aggies hold all the cards.

If Texas and a majority of the Big XII South goes to the PAC 10 then the Aggies can bolt to the SEC and take a chunk of talent and television rich Texas with them.

If the PAC 10 deal between Texas, Oklahoma and others falls through then the Aggies can remain in the Big XII.

I'd love to see Texas A&M play its cards close to its vest for a few weeks and then bolt for the SEC. That would give us enough time to work out a deal to add Virginia Tech to the East.

Man I love it. Nebraska gave tea sipping Texas a shot to the groin and as the Longhorns were bent over in agony the Aggies came along and delivered a swift kick to their butts.

conspiracy theories are not necessary really - this stuff has played out in public

The Big 10 has made no bones about their desire to expand - clearly that list would include Texas if Texas were interested

The PAC 10 has publicly admitted to being interested in adding Big 12 teams including Texas

If this is true than wouldn't it also be true that Big-10 + Pac-10 expansion hurts the SEC.

in an indirect way - yes

they are making moves to make more money. The PAC has a ways to go to approach the profitability of teh SEC...

but the amount of money shared out by the Big 10 (to each school by the conference) already exceeds that of the SEC.

Long term, that money is a competitive advantage - short term teh SEC has little to panic about

Texas has its pick of recruits in the State of Texas and wants to keep it that way. Texas sees a chance to be the big player in a new conference. Texas wants to eliminate any further poaching of Texas talent by other SEC schools. B10 and PAC 10 want to restrict the SEC. So they all join together to forment this coup for lack of a better word but the Aggies are not playing according to their plan.
