Has it crossed anybody's mind to ask where all the help is? We always take care of our own shite because we are Americans and we don't just sit on our arse and wait on someone else to come and help us. This to shall pass and as always we will be the ones to solve the problem and clean up our shores.

Probably laughing their collective asses off at us. Anything that brings the US down a notch is usually okay with them.

You know how a fat kid is intimidating on the playground until a group oft the smaller kids gang up on him to teach him a lesson?

Fat kid = US
wimpy kids = rest of the world

The US consumes 25% of the global energy available and has only 5% of the world's population.

The world sees us as the fat kid.

We also go to all ends of the earth to save every freaking country who is some kind of need or has some kind of crisis. I could only imagine what this world would be like today if it were not for the US. Our country is a thriving country and our citizens work very hard (most of them) for the houses we buy, the cars we drive,etc... The world can hate us all they want. No sleep lost here.

ETA: All of the giving that we do comes with a cost.

If being a democrat means being able to figure out that 25% of energy used by 5% of the globe's population will lead to problems, then I guess by your definition I am.

But I'm actually a libertarian.

However, I do know that it's a ridiculously gross usage by a nation.

Sorry for staying awake in math class, bro. I guess that greater than/less than lesson was too difficult for you to grasp.

man made vs. natural disaster

Many countries will help each other out for a natural disaster like katrina, tsunami, earthquake.

For a country like the US that has such a thirst for oil and one of the companies rushes a job to get more oil and causes a catastrophic oil spill you wont get much sympathy.

Nice comment Isaac Newton but it also doesn't take an engineer to realize that you don't need energy living in a fricking mud hut.

It requires energy to accomplish what this nation accomplishes on a daily basis. Pardon us for not sitting on our arse and wanting someone else to do it for us.

BP has rented Mexican and Dutch skimmer ships.

Another ship like the one that was receiving the oil at the surface is coming next week from Europe. Dont know if that's BP or Shell, which is Dutch.

Please tell the audience what you drive?

A company rushing and taking short cuts has nothing to do with the USA's oil demands. it has to do with its own personal business practices, not the oil demands of its customers. As far as your comment on sympathy, do you really want to play this game? How about the next time their is a disaster in the world such as the Haiti or Chile earthquake or when another nations ppl are starving like the etheopians were in the mid 80's. How about we just turn out back and ignore them. Motherfrick the United States is the most generous giving nation in the history of the world and some of you act like we are satan.

what shape would the worlds ppl be in if the USA suddenly cut off any and all aid?

You talk about the percentage of Oil the USA consumes and are critical of it. Why not show us what percentage of the worlds population the USA feeds everyday???????

I have a little different take on your question - where are all the Hollywood mouthpieces who are usually on their pedastals shouting "we've got to save the world". They seemed to have been rather quiet since day one. Not hardly anything in the media. I figure they are reluctant to place any blame towards Obama in the governments ineptness in the clean up.

James Carville and Mary Matlin (sp) were on CNN Thursday night live from N.O. begging the president to allow Dutch engineers to come in and help. They have offered solutions and pledged workers but the White House wont allow them access to the site.

I think you are right, with one caveat.

What shape would we be in here, if the rest of the world decided to stop selling us crude oil, or made us pay for it in gold or some other form of currency rather than dollars? ie something we couldn't just print.

We would be a lot worse off than they would without our aid money, Israel excepted. We need the rest of the world more than they need us and when they figure it out, well...

Your best bet is metal. Copper, brass, lead and steel tubes used for propelling said metal quickly and accurately downrange.

We would be just fine. Drill in the gulf, drill off florida and the east coast. Drill off of California and drill in Anwar. Lets see 3rd world countries adjust to living without aid and food produced my the United States. If you actually believe the world isn't dependant upon the United States to feed itself then your fooling yourself.

Its all part of Obama's plan, to cripple the USA and make the ppl more dependant upon the government. Before anyone says anything let me cut you off now. Yes I do believe this.
